The UN accused Israel of genocide, and one of the 3 commissioners behind that accusation just admitted, in front of a live audience, that they never independently verified one of the most explosive statistics in their own report.
Chris Sidoti insisted that his commission conducts independent investigations and doesn't simply rely on media reports.
Except paragraph 21 of their official genocide report claims that 83% of those killed in Gaza were civilians. The footnote cites The Guardian.
When asked whether the commission had actually verified that figure, Sidoti admitted:
“No, we didn't… we literally do not know.”
Now watch how this works.
The Guardian publishes a statistic. The UN cites The Guardian. TIME and other media orgs then repeat the statistic while reporting on the UN's genocide findings, giving readers the impression that they're looking at an independently established fact.
The media quotes the UN, the UN quotes the media, and somewhere along the way a newspaper's claim gets transformed into an authoritative finding of international investigators.
This is how information gets laundered. Each new citation adds another layer of credibility without necessarily adding a single piece of independent evidence.
But the commissioner himself admits they never verified the number.
We're talking about an official UN report accusing the Jewish state of the gravest crime in international law, circulated around the world as authoritative evidence, while one of its own authors acknowledges that they literally do not know whether a central statistic they published is accurate.
How many other claims in that report have been through the same process?
@castlerock965@simon_schama Yes indeed, they are all wrong, because it is not a genocide and they are all infected with the same anti-Israel/anti-Zionist, i.e anti-Semitic rhetoric and viewpoints.
@HumzaYousaf "The independent UN commission found Israel guilty of genocide..."
A. The United Nations is anything but independent.
B. It has not been legally established that Israel has intentionally committed genocide.
@HumzaYousaf You have no right nor knowledge to speak about what constitutes a genocide. Stick to your Scottish agenda and leave history and reality to people who are better educated.
Fear not the Barbarians at the gate but the gatekeeper who would let them in.
Douglas always analyses with pin point accuracy and this is spot on. But with the Labour/Fabians it is a case of `there are none so blind as those who will not see`.
Douglas Murray’s books should be required reading for everyone, and especially for university students.
Zionism is both historic and spiritual; the ancient connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel and their right to self-determination in their historic homeland.
I am British by birth, belonging and love; Jewish by inheritance, memory and faith. Britain is my country. Israel is not a competing loyalty, it is the homeland of the Jewish people to which I am bound by ancestry, memory and identity.
For millions of Jews, that is the heart of Zionism. Not supremacy, dispossession or the killing of Palestinians and not a colonial claim to a foreign land but the self-determination of a people with an ancient and continuous connection to it. In practice, it must mean two peoples entitled to self-determination both living in security and freedom with neither people’s future purchased with the lives, rights or humanity of the other.
That is why declaring “Zionism is racism” is not merely wrong, it tells most Jews that their understanding of their own history, identity and collective freedom is itself morally suspect. The Greens should ask themselves whom they are trying to please by adopting a slogan that turns Jewish self-determination into a moral stain. If your politics of inclusion requires millions of Jews to renounce a central part of their history and identity before they qualify for your solidarity, it isn’t inclusion. You are telling Jews: you may belong here but only if you disown Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. That is not anti-racism. It is imposing a political test on Jews that no genuinely progressive movement would dream of imposing on any other minority.
So people keep going back to “Israel invaded the land” and “Israel stole the land” and “Nakba-this” and “Nakba-that” and all sorts of other stories about why they justify Oct 7 and why Israel is in the wrong.
Let’s clear a few things up.
The land that is now Israel was lived in by both Muslims and Jews for a long time. If you want to get technical about who was there first, it was the Jews. How do we know this for a fact? Well, first of all, Jews have been around for about 2000 years longer than Muslims.
Not enough for you?
OK. How about the fact that the word “Israel” is mentioned in the Quran about 43 times. Palestine? Never once.
Jewish people have been around longer than Muslim people have – fact.
Jewish people were living in the place where Israel is much longer than Arabs have – also fact.
In about 1250 BCE, the Jewish people went to what was then called Canaan – where Israel sits today. This is when they escaped slavery in Egypt, and wandered the dessert for 40 years. 1250BCE. About 1860 years before the founding of Islam.
Fast forward to modern times. 1940s. Yes, there were both Arab-Muslims and Jews living on the land that is now called Israel. And yeah, there was fighting. On both sides.
After the Holocaust, the push for the Jewish people to have their own country intensified. During WWII, too many countries turned their backs on Jews. A Jewish homeland would ensure that Jews always had somewhere to go. There could never be another Holocaust, another ethnic cleansing of Jews.
Additionally, the UK was tired of dealing with all the fighting in the British Mandate of Palestine (what Israel was called before it was Israel), and wanted to wash their hands of it.
So what did they do?
They offered to split the land amongst the two groups living there. The Arab-Muslims and the Jews. Sounds fair, right? Each could have their own State, completely autonomous. Pretty good deal, wouldn’t you think?
I think it was a good deal. The Jews thought it was a good deal. Do you know who didn’t think it was a good deal? The Arab-Muslims. Do you know why? Because they didn’t want the Jews to have anything.
So the day after Israel became a nation, the Arabs attacked. 5 Arab nations attacked, in what would be known as the Arab-Israeli war.
Do you know what else it became known as? The Nakba. Nakba for catastrophe. Because they lost. The Arab world says it’s because Arabs were displaced. But they chose to be displaced. Because they chose not to accept their own nation. They left. They ran away. Because they thought the Jews would lose and they'd be able to go back.
The Arabs have been fighting ever since. At some point in time in the 1960s, the Arab-Muslims who were trying to claim Israel as theirs, started to refer to themselves as Palestinians.
Land has been offered. A Palestinian state has been offered. All that the Palestinians had to do, was accept Israel’s right to exist. To stop attacking and trying to destroy them.
Why don’t the Palestinians have their own State?
Because they refuse to. They refuse to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist.
Muslim nations in this world, take up 29.13 million square km.
Israel is 21,671 square km.
Jews have 0.1% of the land that Muslims have.
And according to the Radicalized Muslims, that’s too much.
This isn’t about the land.
This is about Radicalized Muslims not wanting Jews to exist.
Sir Simon Schama on Ed Miliband: “Any foreign secretary who went out of his way to shake the hand of the foreign minister of the Republic of Iran, whose regime murdered 40,000 people, has not got the authority to sermonise about anything, ever again!”

@Ed_Miliband "Incident"..... Are you totally deranged?? It was an attempt at destroying an aircraft full of Israëlis. It's called a terrorist act, you stupid bastard.
This week at Amsterdam's airport, an entire flight from Israel was stopped and searched.
The crime?
If you are found to POSSESS items made in the Golan Heights or Judea and Samaria, you can be sent to Dutch prison for SIX YEARS.
This has shocked many, but it shouldn't.
During the Holocaust, 107,000 DutchJews were deported from the Netherlands, of whom only about 5,200 survived. This is the lowest survival rate in any Western European country and is very much the result of the number of Dutch collaborators, like those who turned in Anne Frank.
What is less known is that when all property of Jews was looted and embezzled, enabled by the Naz| regime, the Dutch government collected a 5% tax for the "transfer of ownership" from those who looted it.
After the war, the city of Amsterdam continued collecting rents and fines from Jewish homeowners whose properties had been seized by the Nazis, and when Jews who survived came back and wanted their homes back, they had to pay all those fines and taxes before they could get their homes back.
There is no religion, faith, or human system that can forgive such cruelty.
We will never forget.

In a nutshell:
Rejoiners are ignoring the huge political wind of change sweeping Europe and the UK v Germany/ France/ Italy growth rates make a nonsense of their Mickey Mouse economic arguments too.

Lebanese journalist Rawad Nassar speaks from the heart about what he sees as the unjust hatred of Israel.
Nassar: “This whole narrative of ‘Israel is absolute evil,’ ‘Israel is a terrorist state,’ ‘Israel is…’ Enough. We need to put an end to this.
Israel, if you compare Israel with the countries that border it, Israel comes out as the most respectable, the most decent, and the most beautiful country among them. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at others.
The most respectable, pure, and beautiful country in the Middle East is Israel. If you leave it alone, it will leave you alone.”
Interviewer: “Really? And what about all the crimes it commits in the south? The bombings, the assassinations, and the killing of civilians, children, women, and the elderly?”
Nassar: “Who told you that? My dear, my love… You can’t fire a missile at Israel, then have the person who fired that missile go and sleep among civilians, and then ask me, ‘Why are they killing civilians?’”
Nassar is paying a high price for his position. In 2026 a criminal complaint was filed against him (incitement, “collaboration with the enemy,” calling for occupation, etc.). There have been threats. He said that some of the harsher remarks (about IDF tanks reaching Batroun) were made while he was drunk / in a moment of anger. Part of Lebanese society considers him a traitor; another part considers him a brave man who says what many think but are afraid to say.
Thanks to Nassar for his stance and for not being afraid to speak the truth!❤️🙏
Some “Free Palestine” activists ask me:
“Why don’t you stand with your Palestinian brothers and their aspirations?”
I answer:
“I do. I support their aspiration to live in dignity, prosperity, and peace side by side with Israel.”
Then they say (in Arabic):
“But we want to destroy Israel.”
And my answer is:
“Thank you for being clear. Then be equally clear when you speak on American campuses. Don’t present coexistence in English while advocating Israel’s destruction in Arabic.
I have seen the darkness of religious extremism with my own eyes. I once swallowed some of its narratives myself, and I fought my way out of that darkness.
So you expect someone like me, an Arab Muslim who has confronted radical Islamism to embrace a cause calling for another people’s destruction?
No, thank you.
I believe in God, and I have brains.
I stand by Israel’s right to exist. The prophets, kings, and heroes I grew up revering including figures revered in the Quran are inseparable from the history of that land and its peoples.
At the same time, I recognize Palestinian suffering and pain. It is real. Palestinians deserve dignity, security, prosperity, and a future for their children.
But that future cannot be built around destroying Israel. It requires leadership capable of taking Palestinians toward coexistence and a better future rather than sacrificing generation after generation to an endless conflict.
Two peoples can live. Two peoples can prosper. Neither needs to disappear for the other to have a future.”
And then comes the silence.
I have seen the darkness of hatred, and by the grace of God, I chose a different path.
It’s my life mission now.
Zero regrets.
All praise is due to God. 🙏🏼♥️
Greens for Palestine shared this video addressed to leader @ZackPolanski and the Jewish community that to keep safe they MUST reject Zionism. Aside from an implied threat, the reality is that after the Holocaust it was actually Zionism and Israel that saved most survivors.
My husband’s family fled there with nothing and nowhere else to go. The fundamental problem with this conflict is that one side will not accept the existence of the other and all horrors lead from that. It isn’t Zionism that’s racist, it’s antizionism.
UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer, who has fought for Israel for years at the UN podium, wrote on X following the improvement in Israel’s diplomatic relations with Morocco: “No one could ever have imagined that Morocco, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates would be friendlier to Israel than Britain, Canada, and Australia. Muslim countries that are stepping up the fight against Islamists are embracing Israel more and more, while Western governments courting Islamist voters are condemning it more and more.”
Neuer is a Jewish-Canadian international lawyer, activist, and human rights advocate who serves as executive director of UN Watch, based in Geneva. He is known primarily as the most prominent fighter on the international stage against anti-Israel bias at the UN. In the international press, he was even once called “the most hated man at the UN.”
Thousands of beautiful souls gathered at Dam Square in Amsterdam yesterday for a massive rally in support of Israel, Organized by Christians for Israel.
I can't even explain in words how much this means to us.
Thank you. 🙏💙
96% of Jews in Poland were murdered by the Nazis. That is genocide.
3% of Gaza’s population, mostly male combatants, died in the war they started. That is not genocide.
