UPDATE | President John Dramani Mahama today conducted an aerial inspection of flood-hit communities across Accra following the devastating floods triggered by record rainfall.
The President announced immediate relief measures, including support for affected families, the release of emergency funds, and a directive to remove structures blocking major drainage channels to reduce future flooding.
He also revealed that the National Security Council will urgently review additional measures to strengthen flood prevention and enforcement.
President Mahama expressed his sympathies to affected families and praised the Ghana Armed Forces, NADMO, the Ghana Police Service, emergency responders, and the 48 Engineers Regiment for their swift rescue efforts, reaffirming the government’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to Accra’s flooding challenges.
