I work in a small, rural hospital. Stayed extra after my shift yesterday to shuffle beds, grab call lights, and answer phones while the ER dealt with 3 traumas and a full house after dozens of COVIDs all day. At one point the ER was bringing beds with people to clear bays..
@aghawk99 Years ago I had a scared cat cut slice through my lateral subunit into my lip. Only place open in a rural area after 9 was ED. I was so fortunate to have the only female doc employed working that night to stitch me up. She brings sewing projects in case it's slow (ha!).
@askUHC I will not give you my patient's info but my nurse manager was just on the phone with someone from UHC who did not help at all. Patient is located in Utah and needs a vascular neurologist. Needs this specialist due to the type of stroke. We have one 2 hrs away, but not in network
@AprilDaly6 My 8 year old son was iron deficient anemic and LOVED ice. We did a full study that showed microcytic anemia. Yes, he's a horrible eater. Renzo iron chewables have worked great.
@DBelardoMD I work as an MA in a rural neurology clinic that serves 12+ counties. We have one neurologist and too many chiros. I know of at least THREE people in my tiny populated area of 30k who have had vertebral artery dissection from adjustments. It infuriates me what they get away with.
@KP_MD2018@WestJet Huh. Seems like convulsions suggest seizures. Neurologist would be my first choice... of course, I work in a neuro clinic so I'm a bit bias.
@healingfromlc Yes, working in healthcare isolated with COVID patients in small rooms for multiple hours with insane amounts of viral loads. Did I eventually get it? Yes, but it was from a family member, not patient.
Hey friends who have attended @UUtah and are an RM... I have a coworker who cannot get the U to switch his residency from his mission state despite living in Utah rest of life and for the last year. Any tips? Who to contact?
@RNSuperHero As someone who works in a 36 bed rural hospital I completely understand what you're talking about. The sad thing is that we know what would help. Hire more and do better at retaining staff. Don't burn out every director and throw in someone who doesn't know policies or EMR.
Things I do for my job that's not included job description: had a patient with high altitude pulmonary edema who had driven from east coast to mile high basin surrounded by mountains. Needed to drive home on O2 and I found the route with fewest amount of elevation changes.
@poetickate Oh, man, that's messed up. Maybe you should tell her you'll send this link to anyone she tells that lie to. The implied abuse link may get her to stop spreading rumors while you hint at your own truth. Either way, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. https://t.co/7aUbgwNUOX
@acweyand Also, migraines. First thing we check in our neuro clinic for H/As and migraines. Half of them come back iron deficient and/or vitamin D deficient.
