Islam is a religion based upon knowledge, and a denial of the possibility and objectivity of knowledge would involve the destruction of the fundamental basis upon which not only the religion, but all the sciences are rooted.
Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti al-Shafi'i (d. 1505 CE) رحمه الله stated:
"The essence of commemorating the Mawlid is that people come together, recite from the Qur'an that which is easy and talk about what has been narrated regarding the early life of the Prophet ﷺ and the signs that occurred at his birth. Afterwards food will be served which they will eat and return [to their usual business] without adding anything to it. This is a bid'ah hasanah (good innovation) for which the one who practices it will be rewarded because of what it contains from venerating the status of the Prophet ﷺ and expressing joy during his honorable day of birth."

For I have a protective covenant with him owing to my name—
Muḥammad—and He is the most loyal of mankind to covenants
