I presented over 15 books to members during our Kiambu Road Warfare Association end-of-year gathering. It was a pleasure sharing meaningful moments with them at Orpul by Sagret, reflecting on our journey and the values that bind us together.
@Dr_AustinOmondi Lost my old man in 2019. Fentanyl couldn't numb the pain. My sister followed 2 yrs later. Git another relative in KNH now. Cancer drains your soul.
One day, a book will be written, not just about a death, but about the death.
The passing of RAILA ODINGA, the man who carried a nation’s burdens on his back and its hopes in his voice. A death not in the land he fought to free, but in some forgotten corner of Kerala, India a place so distant, it might as well have been exile. There, he lay not among comrades or kin, but in the quiet company of his last-born daughter and a loyal guard the final sentinels of a revolutionary spirit.
Back home, the news arrived not with reverence, but through the sterile whispers of online rumours. As the nation gasped, the State moved swiftly signing bills, tightening nooses, silencing the grief of millions with the ink of power. His body returned draped in flags, paraded in polished motorcades, guarded by the same institutions that once guarded his every defeat.
Enemies gathered in somber suits, mouthing tributes they never believed. Hypocrites wept on national television, their tears glistening like cheap theatre lights. The people’s president the man who could summon crowds with a whisper died in solitude.
How ironic, that the loudest voice of our republic met his end in silence? One day, when the birds tire of our ignorance, they will sing the truth and perhaps then, we shall finally listen. And perhaps then, the nation will remember not how he died, but how easily we allowed his loneliness to become our inheritance.
Rest In Power Baba
