Talking to a rep from NDOT this week, I learned that the Woodland St project probably won't be shovel-ready until 2027 or 2028. (They got a contract extension.) This is due to environmental reviews which for some reason involve the historic properties adjacent to the route π€·
@myTDOT My only consolation is that @NashvilleDOT is contractually obligated to complete construction by Halloween of next year. (3/?) https://t.co/3hSgbEUvSY
@eastnashville19 I didn't ask specifically about 5th, but it's part of the same project. So, my guess is that it will be done at the same time. I think that Woodland St from 5th to downtown is just as dangerous as 5th.
@SeanForFive@UrbanEastNash When I talked to NDOT at Open Streets, they told me I should expect it in 2027 or 2028, which apparently is the same timeline as the Woodland St reconstruction.
As reported by @nashvillebanner, "[@freddieoconnell] named child care, housing, health care access and nutrition and food security as top priorities moving forward." Glad to see his administration moving forward on the childcare issue! (and these other things, too)
I met Freddie last year when we both happened to take our kids to the same park at the same time. Among other things, we talked about the challenge of finding a daycare spot in this city. I'm excited to see how he and his team address this problem.
@kdr I was in a pretty dour mood this morning, but then I went to get my 2 year old out of bed. Instantly turned my mood around. (Well, until he didn't want to put on his shoes π)
Kudos to @SoFestofBooks, by the way, for ordering the transportation options correctly on their website: first walk/bike, then transit, then rideshare, and finally personal vehicles. (It should surprise no one that we chose to bike. @tnstatemuseum has bike racks now!)
All busses, all morning: We rode the @WeGoTransit 56 and 52 to Nashville Children's Theater to see Wheels on the Bus. Right after, we walked over to vote for *more busses* from @hownashmoves. Finally, we stopped downtown at D'Andrews for the first time for lunch and pastries.
The car was "driving in the bicycle lane and onto the sidewalk before it hit four pedestrians."
Had @NashvilleDOT actually protected this bike lane years ago like we've been telling them, this tragedy likely would have been avoided.

Last but not least on Nashville's ballot this year is @hownashmoves. 51% of the city's climate pollution comes from transportation. Let's support @freddieoconnell's plan to invest in making our roads not only cleaner, but safer & more efficient. Vote FOR! https://t.co/yEYO2tPosa
