Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand:
"We will continue to be your single source of truth. ... Unless you hear it from us it is not the truth."
What do you think Western countries would be like if our governments became our "single source of truth"?
‘Starmer should call out what these tech companies are doing, rather than politicians clamping down on our freedoms.’
@beverleyturner blasts Keir Starmer’s under-16s social media ban, believing it’s the responsibility of parents, not the government, to protect children online.

THE JOURNALIST WHO TOLD HIS OWN PAPER IT WAS DEFRAUDING ITS READERS
In February 2015, Peter Oborne @OborneTweets walked out of the Daily Telegraph @Telegraph. He resigned as a matter of conscience because his own newspaper was committing what he called a fraud on its readers.
The story the Telegraph did not want to tell was the @HSBC tax scandal. HSBC's Swiss banking arm had been systematically helping wealthy clients hide money from tax authorities on an industrial scale. Every other major paper ran it prominently. The Telegraph buried it.
Oborne went digging into why. What he found was that HSBC had suspended its advertising with the Telegraph back in 2013 after the paper ran an investigation into HSBC accounts in Jersey.
A former executive told him directly that HSBC was, and these are the words, the advertiser you literally cannot afford to offend.
The Telegraph's own chief executive, Murdoch MacLennan, apparently sat in a meeting with Oborne and openly conceded that advertising considerations could override editorial decisions ...
Oborne published everything on @openDemocracy and called for an independent external review. The Telegraph responded by calling his account astonishing, unfounded, and full of innuendo.
The paper that had just suppressed a major banking scandal to protect a major bank's feelings was very concerned about unfounded attacks on its reputation.
Here is what this case actually proves. When a bank can pause its advertising and watch a newspaper quietly drop the story, there is no free press, that is a sponsored press. The readers paying for a newspaper are the last people it is actually working for.
Oborne lost his job. HSBC kept its ad account. The Telegraph's billionaire owners, the Barclay Brothers, kept their arrangement intact.
And thousands of Telegraph readers had no idea any of it was happening, which was rather the point.

The Police drove her to hospital. The police saw her injuries. Yet, the police, the Tele/Courier, the council, the politicians, the TV, all said the Bulgarian was innocent. Let that sink in... They made the families life hell, to protect a Bulgarian migrant who is actually well know to both the council and the police.
There was also no mention of the migrant needing to be restrained and a spit hood placed on him, nor him urinating in the back on the police van. Dundee City Council Dundee Evening Telegraph Police Scotland Scottish National Party (SNP) Rupert Lowe The Courier UK Even after the Hospital Admission letter for concussion was posted online, they all stuck to the narrative the wee girls were being racist towards an innocent migrant, and his wife. The innocent migrant asked the wee girls if they wanted a good time. The innocent migrants wife was his sister, who was clearly seen running over and grabbing the 13yo's hair and throwing her to the ground. This case was an open and shut case from the onset.
Yet, they put the family and girls through months of hate and death threats. Even now, people are still calling the family scumbags, saying the verdict means nothing. Instead, focussing on the girl and the weapons, not the beast who tried chatting them up and then assaulted them when they told him he was a "fucking creep, we're 12". 2 young girls, children, were assaulted before any weapons entered the equation.
I genuinely hope the family sue the lot of them. I hope Elon Musk finances her court costs, or the family are crowd funded

In a similar situation. Our ship. Has already hit the iceberg. We have already started to sink. Without even realizing it. And I'm talking about the ship of our personal freedoms”

Looking at this again. It is an outrageous allegation for a member of Parliament to make. Surely it is outside the political norm.
If he has evidence he should report to the police. If not, then how can the Labour Party allow it unchallenged?
