You, reading this tweet thinking this is nothing to do with you because you don’t commit violence and you’re sure you’ve got no internalised misogyny.
All of it’s connected, you just don’t understand how.
It’s always “Our women” until it’s white men raping, beating, abusing and killing us and then it’s silence.
We are not anyone’s women.
We don’t need you to speak for us.
We can speak for ourselves.

A broadcaster yesterday questioned why ITV were showing the Lionesses’ game vs the Republic of Ireland - a European qualifier no less - since the men’s Champions League was on.

Look, I’ve never wished pain or suffering on anyone. I’ve literally spent seven years advocating for Meghan Markle to be treated with the basic human decency that the British Media have extended to Kate. (But absolutely did not, and will not, give to Meg.) But to scold the public for demanding justice for Meghan, pointing out the double standards, and for demanding answers to a verifiably manipulated photo that was specifically attached to Kate herself after she’s been missing for months is…..well……insanity.
Meghan Markle has endured 61,320 hours of British Media abuse, and at one point had suicidal ideation whilst pregnant, without so much as a care from the British press. Kate Middleton received about 96 hours of “Why did you do this? Please release the original photo” before the British Media started to demand that her “fragile” state be protected.
It’s honestly been sickening to watch. The racism and the double standards are making a mockery of both Kingdom and country. You made this bed, and sadly, you now cry because you’ve had to lay in it.
🧵: The “false allegations of rape” storyline is one of society’s most successful conspiracy theories and one of our most pervasive moral panics. Of course, it happens. All humans are capable of lying. But the number of false allegations is NOT statistically significant. 1/4

In the last couple of weeks I've learned from the police / media if I want to avoid going missing or being murdered I need to:
Not be too ambitious or high-achieving.
Not earn more than my partner (too late)
Not go to a park.
Not to drink alcohol.
Not to go through menopause.
I'm not sure there's a more fitting confirmation of the "invisible contract" between the British press and the royals than the new Queen having a cozy dinner with the disgraced former newspaper editor who spent months hounding your step-son's wife into mental anguish.
The abortion law in Canada in the 1969 and more recently in Ireland were both changed because of empathy. In Canada, the coroner of Ontario was so damn sick of seeing dead women he held an inquest for every abortion death. Wanted the public to see the carnage. 1/
I've been thinking hard about the root causes of Roe's repeal and other social justice problems in the USA and I've come to the conclusion that religion is bad, a net negative for society, and we should stop pretending it's fine for people to believe things that aren't true.
