Things I want schools to do;

* Teach my kid to read
* Teach my kid maths
* Teach my kid to be a useful, polite, respectful human

Things I don't want schools to do;

* Brush my kids teeth
* Clothe my kid
* Wash my kid
* Teach my kid that there are 150 genders
* Teach my kid anything other than the basics of sexual reproduction

As if our education achievement wasn't bad enough as our teachers are expected to be mental health workers, social workers, gender facilitators, now we are prepared to accept that kids coming to school with no basic ablutions carried out are now their teachers responsibility (and therefore ours, via tax).

I'm afraid if a parent can't take basic care of their child then the only role of a teacher should be a social services referral.
