Announcing the publication of my book, "Ask What You Can Do - why local government needs more technologists and how you too can serve". #localgov#stategov https://t.co/hEw0Dw1zDO
Having access to my home town newspaper is a wonderful service, and I'm really grateful for it. But this is a bit Irish... do you plan to add this option so I can make this small change myself in a more secure manner? Thanks!
@MediahuisIRL@Independent_ie - can someone please explain why I can't update my Indo profile/Local Irish News subscription credit card details online? This most basic of ecommerce functionality appears to be non-existent. In late 2023.
That customer support team pointed me to the Local Irish News customer support team, who confirmed that I needed to call them to get this done. During regular Irish business hours. Which is really customer friendly, especially as I live 8 time zones away.
Happy #opendataday! Even though I don't work on open data projects these days, it's great to see the energy and momentum re: open data work around the world. Hello to all my old Open Data partners ๐
@TheRestHistory Visiting London, looked for a biography of Athelstan in several reputable book sellers, none to be had! Seems word of his recent victory in the #KingsAndQueensWorldCup hasn't reached the masses yet...
@RadioBrendanRTE Today's newspaper panel podcast is 4 seconds long. Can someone fix it please? And maybe check for these issues in the first place! Thanks!
I wrote this essay to mark the 2nd anniversary of the publication of my book https://t.co/hk5ChqjULa. Thank you to everyone who has bought and supported the book during that time!
My latest essay where I share ideas for how state & local government can begin engaging with emerging technologies well before they reach mainstream usage. https://t.co/FZj0pUQHbZ
I'm giving away 100 Kindle eBook copies of my book https://t.co/AamtUdRL98 via @goodreads giveaway! Goodreads members can enter for a chance to win a copy here: https://t.co/Bs2uRKR4qW. Thanks! #civictech#publicinteresttech
You can hear more about the book on this @ELGL50 podcast episode: https://t.co/GGQJbpogrq. As the dad of a Gen Z daughter, I'm really excited for the systemic change that this generation of future leaders will drive. #GenZ
Another book recommendation, this time a timely insight from @krentala2 into how Gen Z thinks about public service & their huge desire to drive real change. https://t.co/VJ9d7YZQ00
I love the principles outlined in the book, especially #1: "There is no solving the world's hardest problems without government." Recent events highlight that fact, and how technology in the public interest can empower us all.
As someone deeply interested in public interest technology, thank you @hanaschank & @taradmcguinness for this book! Another must read for any technologist thinking about engaging with or serving within government at any level.
@cydharrell Thank you! Would love to hear your thoughts on it! I guess launching a book at the start of a pandemic isn't optimal from a marketing perspective :) But it's great to see more books about tech & public service emerge during this time.
Finally got around to reading this book by @cydharrell, and it's a must read for any technologist thinking about engaging with or serving within government at any level. https://t.co/lsVdsTGEeF #civictech
