As Black people, we gotta just start talking to our elders and recording it. Audio, visual, or written.
The world didn't care enough to record their stories while it was happening. And the world is moving too fast, and becoming too digital. We need to help preserve our stories.
I learned this late in life:
Being confident doesn’t come from being tough and persevering. It comes from feeling safe to explore failure. Knowing you have a physical home to come back to - that there is enough - and an emotional home - that you are enough.
I’ll take an adderall to lock in at work then find myself annotating every jay electronica verse from the last 5 years and planning a full studio album that will release the day after i die
my hot take? kids are not inherently bad. they just question and provoke authority. and majority of people believe it is bad to question or stand opposed to authority. but that is why so many people struggle with empowerment, personal liberation and autonomy.
I think about this a lot. Every last one of them are successful in their own right. EVERY LAST ONE. I want to know exactly how they all did this together and remained friends. Tyler has mentioned how but I want a documentary NOW.
