@angryginger34@ElofsonJess The point he stated was that he couldn’t pass math because he couldn’t understand why letters were being put into math, or how that would be useful to him. The education system failed him.
The point i’m making is he (and most others) probably use it without even realizing it
Exactly, algebra is really just multiplication and division. It just introduces a high school level of PEMDAS: algebraic reasoning. Its really all multiplication and division, but tells you when to multiply or divide
The point he stated was that he couldn’t understand why we put letters in math. The point I’m making is that even if you don’t write out an algebraic equation, you are still using variables and are commonly doing algebraic reasoning.
Pretty much every time you do math, its always in some way, shape, or form a “solve for x” type of problem
Variables exist in math regardless lol
When you first learn addition, you may be asked:
2 + 2 = ?
Its no different from being asked to solve for a:
2 + 2 = a
You wouldn’t consider it algebra because you’re just being asked “whats 2 plus 2”
Now let’s say you’re trying to make it to a destination 200 miles away, but you’re low on gas and don’t have much money.
You figure you have 4 gallons of gas left and only $10 left in your pocket. Gas costs $5 per gallon, and your car gets 25 MPG.
Can you make it?
Regardless of how you work it out in your head, you’re still doing the same mathematical reasoning used in algebra, even if you don’t think of it that way
A person in the real world would certainly reason through a problem like this and figure out they need to borrow $10
Despite the problem being simple, unfortunately a lot of people probably cant figure that out, hence why they teach algebra
@guymero8@ElofsonJess Lol… the point I’m making is that the variables exist regardless, people use them without realizing it. Basic algebra is essentially simple math
almost just got phished
luckily the spacing was weird in the email but this is a great spoof
it came from the right google email and everything and a link to a perfect google sign in clone that would have gotten my password
huge shoutout as always to brian armstrong
@openclaw Burned through $200 in tokens just this weekend using opus/sonnet BUT ITS SO GOOD
Tried out GPT to save on cost and it’s absolute trash. Doesn’t do what it says it will do, stops and asks if it should continue working on its problem every 2 seconds, and just overall worse
@lefthanddraft Kinda reminds me of when i told grok to produce code that would output back into itself, it started making ascii trees that got more and more chaotic until it made this
@FilmSchoolRooki @AmiriKing I just learned that drumettes arent the same as drumsticks… like when you order wings and get pieces that look like>🍗
i thought they were drumsticks (the legs)
