@JOBhakdi Intuitive Surgical’s Da Vinci robotic system has been used in over 2 million teleported procedures this past year. Their most recent system is currently acquiring massive amounts of video data of surgical procedures for training.

Regulations are the easy part, culture will be harder but easier as there is more acceptance with autonomy in society. The hardest is the extremely long tail on the training model.

I don’t think it has to be one or the other. Although the human form factor is great for the vast majority of work (current processes were developed BECAUSE of the human form factor) there will be certain situations where a specialized form factor is superior. The “intelligence” can be universal, but the end actuators may benefit from specialization. You don’t need a scalpel to put your groceries away. There are already 2 specialized robots—Optimus and Cybercab—doesn’t mean there can’t be more.

@Teslaconomics Not in that timeframe. We are still struggling with regulations for self driving cars. Augmented surgery with AI assistance for human surgeons is developing rapidly but Optimus performing surgery is a ways off.
