McKee’s half falls on the Susquehanna at Port Treverton, PA. On my round trip between Mechanicsburg & Danville every Sunday. The life of a circuit rider pastor.
The older I get, the longer I live, the more I interact with people around the world, the more I am convinced that the main thing is love. Jesus said it - when He was asked about the most important commandment, He said it was to love God and love people. True holiness begins with loving well. “Often in religious circles we measure maturity by what people believe and how people behave. Those things are important. But Jesus went beyond that. Jesus measured maturity by the heart . . . How can we be holy if we are not most of all characterized by love? This is the thing that Jesus said mattered most. When the measure of our maturity is characterized more by the rules of the Pharisees then the love of Christ, something is seriously wrong with our faith” ~ Authentic.
This is why I continually go back to these questions: Is Jesus my first love and primary obsession? And do I love God and people more this year than I did two years ago?

As a transitional pastor I provide consistency for churches as I help them successfully navigate change. Solid preaching series delivered in a series format does just that. This summer we will be studying the prayers of the apostle Paul. Join us as we climb into God’s hammock.
I’m recalling some precious memories of my Dad this weekend. Leon R. Smith II, also known as Sonny or Smitty around Lewistown & Maitland, PA. Thanks for the laughs, life lessons and loving Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord. I miss you dad, love you like a rock.
@richvillodas One of the
best sermons I ever heard was on this passage at C&MA Council of Churches years ago in Anaheim, CA. “When Jesus Wields a Whip”. The maze that was constructed within the temple only served to keep people from God rather than be drawn to him. That ticks Jesus off.
You can’t go make disciples if you’re at church 6-7 days a week.👇🏼
Too many leaders find themselves practically living at the church in the name of reaching more people.
But the people you need to reach are at soccer fields, ice cream parlors, and in your own home.
You need to leave more so that your church can grow.
Acts 2:42-47 is a case study in 24/7 worship as the early church worshipped with both their lips & their lifestyle. What might it look like for you to worship God in the same way, 24/7?
@Dr_RobReimer When I read that scripture I picture Jesus cupping his hands over us and breathing his breath over our smoldering soul bringing it to a fire.
@Dr_RobReimer Rob. After doing 5 transitional pastorates and now heading into #6 I couldn’t agree with you more. Old models aren’t working. We need the new wine and new wine skins.
