ODPC today joined residents of Wundanyi Constituency to plant 2,000 trees at Ngangao Indigenous Forest in Taita Taveta, as part of the ODPC's CSR initiative.
Together, we’re contributing to the Presidential Directive on the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.
This becomes the fourth tree planting exercise conducted since July 2024 following similar exercises in Baringo and Marsabit Counties. The Office has lined similar activities in various parts of the country to further enhance the tree planting exercise.

ODPC led by @ikassait received a courtesy call by the Somali Data Protection Authority, led by Director General Mohamed Nur Ali Olow, who are on a three-day benchmarking tour. This visit aims to facilitate knowledge sharing, best practices, and mutual support in implementing data protection laws.
The tour also provides valuable insights and experiences to assist the DPA in its formative stages.
The objective is to enhance collaboration between Somalia’s new authority and the ODPC, fostering a culture of continuous development and innovation.

A team from ODPC led by Head of Communications Dalton Mbondo held a training session with the call centre unit focused on the CRM Helpdesk tool.
The training aimed to enhance the efficiency of issue reporting, ensuring that all raised concerns are addressed within the stipulated turnaround time (TAT) and that every escalation is tracked until resolution.
ODPC remains committed to customer excellence.
Earlier today, Data Commissioner @ikassait alongside Mr. Emmanuel kimeu @MoICTKenya Secretary of ICT, Security and Audit and Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) Members led by Mr Collins Ojiambo launched a quarterly-long training for @KEPSA_KENYA members scheduled for 12th August -21stOct 2024.
In her remarks @Ikassait emphasized that the training serves as a means to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act. She encouraged sector members to register as data controllers and processors, enabling the ODPC to effectively regulate data processing activities and minimize potential harm to data subjects.
"Our meeting today reflects our commitment to engage various sectors on data protection issues. We live in an era where personal information has become integral to business, especially with the rapid advancements in the ICT sector. It is crucial to safeguard personal information and ensure it is used for its intended purposes,” she stated.
@ODPC_KE today received a courtesy call visit from a team from the Kenya National Examinations Council @KNECKenya officials led by Befly Bisem the Deputy Director Legal Services.
The team from @KNECKenya sought to learn how to handle and protect personal data from data subjects and how to ensure compliance with data protection laws in the context of handling personal and sensitive information.
The visit involved discussions on data security measures, consent mechanisms for data processing, data retention policies, collaboration & awareness and overall compliance with data protection laws.
The Deputy Data Commissioner @otienoscar_ke emphasized on the crucial of the office in overseeing and enforcing data protection laws in Kenya, ensuring organizations follow best practices and legal requirements when it comes to handling personal data.
