@elmaxlumax @quinntheghoul You got my point…! Saying she’s Iranian reduces her to a fixed & modern understanding of what it means to be Persian. She could be Persian & from Tajikistan, for example. Nationality doesn’t exist in this context. Sumeru as a whole is an amalgam & so is Nilou… برو بخیر
@elmaxlumax @quinntheghoul nilou is not “iranian” she is “persian”/central-asian. her design inspirations come from multiple places in the region across time. “iran” is a modern development. i speak farsi as well. like i said ur welcome to assume whatever u would like
@elmaxlumax @quinntheghoul There are Iranian women who choose to wear the hijab and Iranian women who are forced into it. To say you can’t draw Iranian women wearing hijab would also be erasure. Anyway, drawing a fictional character (who isn’t Iranian) wearing is ultimately not that harmful.
@elmaxlumax @quinntheghoul worst case: an artist making a horrible take
most likely: a non-central asian (prolly white) artist headcanonning a character in a way you don’t like.
u can assume what u want ab my identity idgaf.
