Collierville Police Department Reports Record Arrests and Lowest Part A Crime Levels in More Than 20 Years
The Collierville Police Department announced today that proactive policing and data-driven strategies have led to historic achievements in public safety. In 2025, CPD recorded the highest number of arrests in the department’s history, contributing directly to fewer victims of crime and continued declines in offenses.
Since 2018, Part A offenses in Collierville have fallen by approximately 22 percent. The year 2025 marks the lowest level of reported Part A crime in more than two decades (2004). Each week, CPD conducts a detailed review of crime reports to identify trends and adjust resources, allowing officers to focus proactive enforcement where it is needed most.
Part A offenses include the primary crime categories tracked by the FBI under the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), encompassing violent and property crimes used to measure overall crime trends in communities nationwide.
Over the past three years, Collierville has experienced a steady downward trend in crime. Each year has shown incremental reductions in offenses. These improvements have not occurred all at once; instead, they reflect consistent year to year progress. The cumulative effect is a safer community where fewer residents are becoming victims of crime. This sustained decline highlights the effectiveness of long-term strategies.
Police Chief Dale Lane emphasized the importance of staying vigilant even amid positive trends: “While we are proud of the progress our community has made, we never forget that behind every statistic is a person. If you or your family have been the victim of crime, one incident is still one too many. Our team comes to work every day committed to preventing crime before it happens and protecting the people of Collierville.”
CPD is committed to a strategy built on data driven policing, proactive enforcement, integrated technology, and strong community collaboration to keep Collierville one of the safest communities in Tennessee.

🚨 INFORMATION ALERT (RESHARE) 🚨
We are resharing this message after receiving a call today regarding children on the ice at a pond.
Tragically, three children died today in Texas after falling through ice. This is a heartbreaking reminder of how dangerous and unpredictable ice-covered ponds and lakes can be.
Even when ice looks solid, it may not support a person’s weight and can break without warning.
-Parents and guardians: Please speak with your children about the serious dangers of playing on frozen water.
-Everyone: Stay off ice-covered ponds and lakes.
If you see anyone on the ice or in danger, call 911 immediately. Please share this message to help prevent another tragedy.
One of the prettiest sites you will see (snow covered Collierville Town Square). Thank you Collierville for staying home today. Thank you to all our police officers, dispatchers, jailers, firefighters, paramedics, and public works teams who are keeping Collierville safe!
🎅🚨 BOLO Alert 🚨🎅

Merry Christmas from the Collierville Police Department! 🎄
Yesterday, Collierville Police officers conducted surveillance in the area of 275 New Byhalia Road of a suspected stolen vehicle from Memphis, that was unoccupied at the moment.
Officers from the Uniform Patrol Division and Special Enforcement Unit coordinated with CPD’s Unmanned Aerial (Drone) Unit, utilizing a drone to maintain aerial surveillance. When the suspect exited a nearby business and attempted to enter the vehicle, officers employed containment tactics to prevent an escape.
The suspect, who is from Jackson, Tennessee, surrendered without incident, and no injuries were reported.
During a subsequent search of the suspect and vehicle, officers recovered drug paraphernalia, stolen items from the business, and a backpack containing additional stolen merchandise and a handgun.
The suspect was charged with Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft of Property (stolen vehicle), Theft of Merchandise, and Tampering with Evidence.

Once again, the Grinch continues his misbehavior and yes, it’s happening right here in Collierville.
For the fourth year in a row, he found himself in trouble, was bonded out by a resident of Whoville, and quickly returned to causing mischief around town. Some lessons take longer than others.
A special thank you to the residents of Six Crowns for their continued support and hospitality, and to Darrell Greene, as this appears to be his final broadcast in the Mid-South. We appreciate his years of coverage and wish him the very best in what’s next.
Most importantly, we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and sincerely thank the Collierville community for your continued support throughout the year.
This afternoon, officers responded to a theft call in the area of 3569 S. Houston Levee. The caller reported that several beauty-supply items had been stolen, and the suspects fled the scene.
Officers of the CPD Special Enforcement Unit, along with officers from the Uniform Patrol Division, quickly identified and located the suspect vehicle as it headed into Germantown. Utilizing pursuit-prevention tactics, officers safely stopped the vehicle on Winchester Road.
Inside the vehicle, officers recovered approximately $1,600 in stolen merchandise from the Collierville business. Additional evidence was also located that appears to be linked to a separate incident in Germantown. GPD was notified and will be investigating.
Two suspects, both from Memphis, were taken into custody for Felony Theft. One suspect also had outstanding warrants from Collierville for two prior thefts and a failure to appear in court.
We appreciate the teamwork between our units to help keep our community safe.

Congratulations to the CPD Jail staff on once again earning recertification from the Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI)!
The CPD Jail is a Type II, 72-hour holding facility certified by TCI, with a capacity of 51 inmates and staffed by a dedicated team of 15 Jailers and one Police Lieutenant. If a person cannot make bond within 72 hours, they are transferred to Shelby County custody—but they remain under the authority of the Collierville Municipal Court until their case is resolved or transferred.
In 2024 alone, our Jail processed 2,640 prisoners, averaging 220 bookings per month. Despite an average daily population of just nine, the staff works around the clock to ensure safety, security, and professionalism.
Each year, the Tennessee Corrections Institute inspects our Jail to verify compliance with state standards. Passing this rigorous review highlights the hard work, training, and dedication of our Jail staff, who are vital to CPD’s mission of maintaining public safety.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Morris family as we remember Officer Edgar Morris on the fourth anniversary of his passing. Officer Morris tragically lost his life due to complications from COVID-19.
He began his career with the Collierville Police Department on September 1, 2005, and faithfully served our community with honor and dedication. Beyond the badge, Edgar was a devoted husband, father, and son whose character touched everyone who knew him.
Today and always, our thoughts remain with his family as we honor his service, sacrifice, and the lasting impact he made on our department and community.
Today, while working another case near Houston Levee and Winchester, a CPD detective was contacted by a local business regarding possible shoplifters. The detective quickly alerted our Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), who tracked the suspects to Kohl’s.
SEU officers observed two female suspects take more than $3,500 in stolen merchandise, primarily cosmetics. With coordinated support from our Uniform Patrol Division and Motor Unit, officers safely stopped the suspects as they attempted to leave the area.
Both suspects, identified as Romanian nationals, are part of a regional theft ring. NCIC confirmed they had active warrants out of Tennessee, North Carolina, Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Ohio. They are also undocumented individuals with ICE holds in place.
This successful outcome highlights the value of teamwork and vigilance—both within our department and in partnership with our local businesses.
