• Desalagne dragged the heavily intoxicated pensioner from a bench behind a hoarding at St John’s Church in Harrow around midnight on 23 July last year.

• The 20-minute assault took place on a grass verge as cars and a double-decker bus drove past nearby.

• CCTV showed him pausing whenever members of the public walked close by.

• A witness spotted the attack from her window, called police and filmed part of it on her phone.

• Officers arrived within five minutes and arrested him at the scene.

• A jury at Harrow Crown Court took just over two hours to convict him after watching the footage. He will be sentenced in the autumn
