@DavidSacks How has your opinion changed on nuclear threats after Kursk territory in Russia was invaded by Ukraine and there was no nuclear retaliation?
@webbyeasy@CG_Trader Free models are no AI by default, no action needed. Regarding consulting I agree it is not ideal. But we have to react to what is happening in the market and ensure that designers are compensated fairly
@GibonFrancois Thanks Francois for your comment - I see your point. One thing to note is that our previous license could be interpreted as permitting models for Gen AI (it was set before this trend), and what we have done is introduced a no-AI option so that everyone can opt out. We are giving 2 weeks to decide too so that everyone process this without rush
@Turrosky@CG_Trader@Turrosky I've shared a bit more info in the thread, but in fact every paid model on CGDream has a written agreement with its seller, and we plan to offer opportunity to sell 3D models there which will be on an opt-in basis
@TytanTroll@CG_Trader@TytanTroll Hi Dave, I've shared a bit more info in the thread - but CGDream has an explicit opt-in agreement with every seller of paid models you are seeing there
@webbyeasy Hi John, please note that every paid model in CGDream is on full opt-in basis - we have written agreements with every seller who agreed to contribute or the models are free and allowed as per terms. We plan to have an option to sell the models on CGDream, but that will be opt in too
@CG_Trader I am happy to discuss this further and answer any open questions, I've opened the DMs as well - CGTrader has always been a designer-focused marketplace, and we continue to look for ways to bring the most value to designers in the changing market landscape
@CG_Trader 5) Crucially, any sales of 3D models to GenAI companies will be done at marketplace prices and our usual, high royalty rates - therefore benefiting the designers to gain maximum amount from this developing market
4) Latest terms change is related to clarifying our license to allow selling to customers who want to use 3D models for GenAI training. It clarified our previous license which did not address GenAI question and therefore could be interpreted as permitted. Now, designers can opt out of this opportunity, or monetize their collection in the AI market as well
@CG_Trader 3) We believe CGDream opens a new opportunity to sell your 3D models to a mainstream audience - creatives who do not have enough 3D skills to use them otherwise. However, any upload of models to CGDream will be on an opt-in basis, we just do not have that functionality yet
@CG_Trader 2) The models you see on CGDream are all either free (permitted by the terms to be used in similar apps, as it is not AI training) or we have written agreements with every single seller to use their models there
@CG_Trader 1) CGDream has not used a single 3D model for AI training. It combines 3D models in the viewer with an open source AI model to generate images
@VWGAMEDEV @weknoot @CG_Trader I hope this makes it much more clear, please feel free to reach out with more questions. I’ve made my DMs open and happy to discuss more or answer any questions
