@JackPittBrooke Brilliant article! Dying to listen to the full @VFTLpodcast debrief!
Incredible vindication for Ange. Amazing for Spurs to finally drop that cross they’ve carried for 20 years!
Fascinated to see how the Ange situation plays out now when the dust settles. Any guesses Jack?
@jaydmharris Crazy to lose all your midfield creativity in the 2 weeks leading up to a final! Including Kulusevski and Bergvall who’ve taken turns as our best player this season, and Maddison who is Spurs big game player.
Any chance Bergvall has a miracle recovery?
@JackPittBrooke I think it’s a problem beyond just the players picked now: the belief in the project has vanished and the confidence is on the floor. Sad for Ange and the players.
It’s just a rudderless ship at the minute no matter the XI. The excitement of Europa might give them something.
@SebSB I’m trying to get myself excited for the idea of Thomas Frank (best of the candidates I’ve seen listed).
I think his practical, adaptive style is exactly what you’ve described in this thread.
I just hope that shows enough ambition for Kulu, VDV, Bergvall and co?
@SebSB This thread is a very rationale take Seb.
I’m sad today that after 2 years of buying into the vision, I’m finally ‘Ange Out’. Not because of a loss to Chelsea, but because it seems belief in the project has died in the camp.
Who could come in and succeed next?
@VFTLpodcast@dannykellywords@JamesTMaw@JackPittBrooke I’ve been pro-Ange because his vision of an attacking, positive Spurs that would not just compete but *win* was a breath of fresh air after Jose and Conte.
If Ange wins Europa, is it possible for him to salvage his Spurs tenure?
If he’s out, who could we be excited to come in?
@JackPittBrooke Couldn’t get to see the game today, but thrilled (/relieved) by the result. Such an important win.
You mentioned on @VFTLpodcast lately that we haven’t seen ‘Angeball’ in weeks - did we see any signs of that version of Spurs returning today?
@VFTLpodcast@dannykellywords@JackPittBrooke@SebSB Ange needs the support. The squad badly needs the depth. Who are realistic signings that Spurs could bring in before the end of the window?
1. Players that would be interested in coming
2. Realistic price
3. (At least some) could improve our first XI
@mitch_fretton Would be a brilliant trio to bring in. They aren’t targets I’d have imagined earlier in the year, but they’d be rest reinforcements now. Dibling is another I’d love.
Expensive, but the risk of no investment is even more expensive…
Where would Cunha fit in a 4-3-3?
@mitch_fretton This, exactly. Iraola seems like a brilliant coach, and at another time I’d love to see him at Spurs, but not now.
As good as he is, I don’t think he’d do any better with a Spurs team with 10+ injuries, an injured back 5 and a game every 3-4 days. Ange in. ✅
@simonyemane Spurs always struggle to have the creativity and threat to break down those low block walls. When you take out Kulusevski, Solanke and Son: nearly impossible.
Today showed a big need for some more technical quality/depth in the front 3.
@jaydmharris Scary how devoid of creativity and threat Spurs were without Solanke, Son and Kulusevski (and maybe Bergvall).
Maddison was one of our better players, but it’s a chance missed by him. Thank God for Bissouma, Gray, Kinsky.
Surely Lankshear would’ve offered more than Werner?
@CDEccleshare Spurs definitely due a break, amazing to make it count. Such an important win for Ange and that team.
Incredible leadership from Bergvall, Solanke, Gray and the 72-hour Spurs player (!!) Kinsky!
