@teslaownersSV i love musk when he drops dubious but entertaining truth bombs - being a goofy awkward child-genious that breaks the conventions of polite society.
but i hate everything about the "messiah from the future". even more i hate people who get in religious awe from shitty gadgets.
i think jordan petersen got it exactly right - it's not his words but this is how i understand his point:
> heaven is right here, when your conscience is clear, when you speak genuinely, when you stand straight and have the strength to be generous to strangers - and to forgive your enemies.
> hell is here as well, when you dont.
@ClimateWarrior7@MarioNawfal weird because on the drone shot it seems there is a much older bridge right besides it (that even looks pretty much the same).
i love american culture. the entrepreneurship. the nature. the brash attitude. the maga thing is so wild to us. i am a contrarian, so i find it hilarious and refreshing - bc it is so far from the values of the euro bourgeoisie. i hate the european bureaucratic elite too.
but the size of your pickup trucks is ridiculous. the portions in your restaurants are grotesque. in denmark, france, germany, one of the clearest signs of being of proper social standing is to show restraint. in fine restaurants, wine glasses are filled 1/5th.
total opposites. i love both.
but i still think jesus wouldnt drive a big fat pickup truck and eat giant portions of smothered fries.
@Devon_Eriksen_@salingergregor what we don't understand is how you can be so religious - without any notion of the value of austerity.
in denmark we might rank last of the first and first on the latter.
@mysteriouskat the whole idea with twittex is to be confirmed in - or to confront others with - our polarized views.
same goes for all politics: the main motivation to get engaged politically is to define threats and point at enemies.
looking for wisdom? common sense? go touch some grass :)
@michaelmalice people didnt get dumber.
dumb people got louder.
also: invisible age gap.
few 22 year olds can discuss anything with a 44 year old without sounding dumb.
first: i am a half-wealthy dane (6-fig salary in euro or usd) and my tax card says 40+8%. then above whatever you pay 7% more. so i pay 48% on 85-90% of my income and 55% on the rest.
second: i get tax deductions on kids and loans ca 20k euros or usd per year. (so i might in fact remain under the +7% limit)
third: in many countries, employers pay tax too. like france the employees pay 20-25% but employer pays 30-35% tax before that, so it's the same or more).
fourth: everything works. call the state and they help you fill in your tax. free school free university child supoort home support etc. my level of administration is minuscule.
i am a small time millionnaire and i know several billionnaires. none of them complain against taxation.
five: the mainstream sane is not woke like in sweden. there are tough discussions about immigration and the free speech crowd wins.
there is one big dark side to denmark: the lack of desire to be different and the lack of social respect for success and talent. a kind of spirit of laziness of small mindedness.
so if there is one big issue that is demoralizing the Danes, it's this lack of respect for achievers. not taxation.
no democratically elected president is evil.
because any wrongdoing gets scrutinized and totally extrapolated by political opponents. it's brutal. of course 50% of population will not vote for an actual rapist or a fraudster.
so if you think biden or trump are evil, there is something wrong with you: misunderstanding reality and democracy.
of course they have flaws. of course they interpret and bend reality to their advantage, like we all do. but they don't actually lie. nobody would vote for a liar.
humans vote for someone they agree with and who understands their problems. so all the convinctions are polarized. biden let his son have corrupt dealings by using his name. he would have been caught if he had been active in the corruption. same goes for trump. if allegations were true, he would be condemned also by judges & prosecutors who are not leftwing fanatics.
so your depiction of trump is as absurd as people who used to call joe biden evil. call biden a mumbling baffoon, call trump an aggressive narcissist. but dont call them evil, bc they could never get anywhere without a powerful, compelling - and i know, hard to understand: genuine - personality.
if you cant understand politicians are genuine - and that this is exactly what gets them elected - the problem is you. sorry.
@visegrad24 yes but remember the internet was never as fun as in 2020 - peak censorship, peak neoracism, peak woke, peak democratic-dictatore corona insanity... in the end: pressure creates sparkles.
