Original horror & younger audiences are dominating the box office.
‘Backrooms’ and ‘Obsession’ made over $100M collectively this weekend.
Around 80% of those moviegoers were under 35.
Part of what keeps me coming back to box office tracking is that sometimes things like this happen that, if anyone had tried predicting all of this even 10 days ago you would have looked like a crackpot.
i'm sorry but like seeing this tweet again and thinking about how this person was probably talking about obsession and how that is now breaking every box office record ever... sorry you are boring and have no taste!!
you must resist the urge to see the new trendy horror movie that everyone is telling you you "have to" see. simply wait one (1) calendar year and see if anyone recalls it at all fondly (they won't) and watch it then (you don't have to).
OBSESSION earned over $8M yesterday, surging more than 30% from last Friday.
It’s the BIGGEST third-Friday increase for a non-Christmas wide release in over 50 years — since the rise of modern cinema with JAWS in 1975.
