Anyone else have a piece of flash that keeps getting ‘almosts’ ‘shortlists’ and ‘near misses’? Every time I think I’ll retire it, I get another ‘oooh it was this close to being chosen’. This lil’ piece has to find its home one day 🙌

The Cassandra Complex by @HolSmale just knocked me sideways. I had such a good feeling about this book but I had no idea that I'd be moved, feel seen and see the world in every colour swatch imaginable. I now have the biggest book hangover on hump day but it was SO worth it 😭

@nycmidnight - does the word for the character have to appear in the text? For instance, could a girlfriend feature (e.g not married but romantically involved) but not say the word? For period pieces, the word hasn't necessarily come about yet.

She emerges, bleary eyed from 14 hours of dram related pouring and sipping the night before, to attempt some writing.

It's a hard job but someone has to do it.
