Few firms will tell you this, but you absolutely need to hear it.
Traders arenโt failing props because they have no edge.
Theyโre failing because they size like the account is theirs.
You get a 50k or 150k and suddenly youโre trading it like you actually have that capital.
A couple average losers later and the daily or trailing drawdown is gone.
Blown. Reset. Repeat.
And the firms know exactly what theyโre doing.
Bigger size = faster rule breaks = more evals sold.
Itโs not a bug.
The contract limits and account sizes make oversizing feel reasonable until it isnโt.
If they actually wanted more people getting paid, the default leverage would be a lot lower relative to the drawdown.
Itโs not.
Oversizing isnโt just a trader problem.
Itโs built into the model.
Size down.
