Taking the sleeper train to Hong Kong right now. Last time I took a sleeper was back in college, when high-speed rail just started, just that one Beijing-Tianjin line for Beijing 2008 Olympic. Now it covers the entire country, in less than 2 decades.

Still feels a bit surreal that I can leave Shanghai, sleep through the night, and wake up in Hong Kong.

The gadgets next to my bunk are fun too: ambient light, reading light, hooks, and one hook deliberately labeled “glasses rack.” How many people in China wear glasses exactly! 😅

@trydragonfruit The upper bunk isn’t tall, I can’t sit up straight (I’m 6ft), but lying down is fine. The lower bunk lets you sit upright, which is why it costs a bit more. But the upper bunk is quieter. I like it up here.
