It was Wallsflow's video wallpaper on new tabs.
Disabling it dropped package temp from 91°C to 59°C. Switching it to a static image kept it at 55°C with CPU 97% idle.
My setup btw is i7-4710MQ, Fedora, Chrome on Wayland.

My fans were screaming with just Chrome open. Benchmarks said the machine was fine, so I dug in.
top showed one Chrome process at ~240% CPU.
ps -p <PID> -o args showed --extension-process, so it was an extension, not a tab.

A simple extension....giving my pc one hell of a time.
