Pete Bevacqua said ACC football stadiums sell out 23% of the time on average. When Notre Dame visits an ACC stadium, the sell out rate is 90%. Notes television ratings also rise with Notre Dame's participation.
To all high school and portal recruits:
If you want to play for a school with a brand big enough to shut down college football’s media cycle on arguably the biggest day of the year, come to Notre Dame.
Biggest brand in the sport and it’s not close.
ND against the world.
@JimCosta_@ilovepink50s@rckymtnhigh13 Yep I know the one. I also know the one where Bama loses to FSU, Miami loses to SMU, and Miami loses to Louisville.
If you want to make head to head the only criteria, great. But argue about “results” and the committee “getting it right” - it’s a losing bit just to drive clicks.
Here’s how Notre Dame can exit their affiliate membership and completely destroy the ACC as we know it:
1. Notre Dame’s cleanest exit from the ACC deal: Sue for breach of anti disparagement clause over the 2025 CFP sabotage. Win = walk away penalty-free
2. Partial-member buyout: ND’s buyout is ~$50-100M today (way less than a full member’s $165+), but a successful breach lawsuit makes it $0 + possible $20-50M in damages from the ACC.
3. Hypothetical future: ND flips to a Big Ten partial deal in 2027
- 5 rotating B1G games/yr + fixed rivalry
- Keep full NBC money + $15M affiliate check
- Auto bowl ties & stronger CFP path. Big Ten gets massive ratings.
In the end, ACC loses its golden goose and FSU & Clemson leave shortly after. The ACC collapses.

So folks at @espn are upset ND isn’t playing in a bowl game after weeks of folks politicking against the lack of conference affiliation, using them as a pawn for their CFB playoff selection show, having the ACC network play the UM/ND game on repeat for 48 hours during Conf Champ week BUT now it’s a bad look they don’t want to serve ESPN’s best interest by playing in an exhibition bowl game? Got it.
@JimCosta_ Loving the click-bait tweets Jim to try and up your street cred. What other hot takes you got? Gonna say Vandy deserved it? What about BYU? Virginia?
Tell me how you’d make the committee wake up and change their failed system. Oh right, you won’t bc that would be productive
@SNunya1003 @JimCosta_@NDFootball@CFBPlayoff And you got what for being in the ACC? The opportunity to not even be good enough to play for the ACC title?
Plus, tell me how it makes sense that OSU drops a spot, BYU gets booted, and Bama doesn’t move. That’s the committee getting it “right”?
Enjoy getting boat raced by A&M.
So, BYU was penalized for getting blown out in its conference championship game (dropped one spot). Which allowed Miami to move up and get compared directly to Notre Dame.
But Alabama was not penalized for getting blown out in its conference championship game.
Per the committee, Alabama losing yesterday was good, actually.
They beat the SEC champ in September, who's only the SEC champ because Alabama was savvy enough to lose, thus giving them a win over the SEC champ.
This is a committee of dented avocados.
For all ND haters, a reminder that the committee has always been guided by the eye test.
Undefeated, ACC Champ FSU was left out in ‘23 because of the eye test.
1 loss ND in 2021 was left out because of the eye test.
Countless others.
It’s. Always. Been. About. The. Eye. Test.
The final AP Poll of the regular season:
9. Notre Dame
10. Miami
11. Alabama
The gap between Notre Dame and Miami in voting is bigger than the gap between Miami and Alabama. Notre Dame is also closer to No. 8 Oklahoma in voting than No. 10 Miami.
Can’t see myself ever flying @AmericanAir again. They broke my wife’s luggage, sent us on a wild chase to file a claim, didn’t ever mention a timeline, had a broken QR code, and conveniently don’t cover broken wheels. What’s your motto? “To hell with the customer”?
@PeteSampson_ What in the world happened with Freeman’s headset in the first quarter? It was after Purdue’s fake punt. He was going nuts on the sideline trading headsets
