We're continuing to see quite remarkable rhetoric from UK govt ministers
Exchequer secretary says now is time to go "full steam ahead…away from fossil fuels". Notably, Whately also mentions energy efficiency -absent in recent Johnson article- as well as renewables & nuclear
Morning view outside @TKMaxx_UK.. that plastic blows down the streets into the local parks and rivers. How does this fit with your environmental policies (https://t.co/0kARRhXlnb)?
@ClemCowton Some good reading in this thread! I’m not yet convinced and I believe anything that can be electric will be, as it’s the primary energy source. If return efficiency can be improved significantly-losses from electricity to hydrogen and back for storage-then it becomes interesting.
@DFDSUKUpdates Hi Jake, we are booked on the 10.00 ferry tomorrow morning but we don't know if COVID testing will be provided on departure. Is it possible to move our booking until Thursday otherwise?
Great to see UK government announce its Green Industrial Revolution - incl offshore wind, hydrogen, EVs, low carbon shipping, among others!
Also recommend Simon Evans' thread breaking this down, perfect with a coffee!

Last Friday was my last day at Carbon Trust - has been surreal leaving virtually but hopefully leaving drinks some time in the future will make it real!
It has been an amazing 6 years working closely with the offshore wind developers and the technology…https://t.co/iWVYf86IbL
Our recent report projects 70GW of floating wind by 2040– any comments on our projections?
South Korea is heating up but plenty of competition in other markets; Scotland, France, US and Japan, among others.

Record update! 🔔
Wednesday morning saw another new high for the share of #wind on the system.
At 1.30am on August 26 wind power made up 59.9% (14.2GW) of Britain's #electricity.

So much Govt could do to respond to this public demand:
✅Lift capacity caps for onshore & offshore wind at next year's CfD auction
✅Outline a strategy to address the barriers to building the Govt target of 40GW of offshore wind
✅Support floating wind & marine development 1/4
