In the late 70s, The Ohio State University (OSU) acquired a nationally significant collection of works by some of the foremost artists of the time, many of whom mounted solo exhibitions, performances and talks on campus alongside acclaimed exhibitions featuring local artists.
Major contemporary critics were invited to speak and visit with local practitioners in their studios, with the aim of giving students, “the confidence to present their ideas within the national argument.” Behind this artistic renaissance was New Zealand ex-pat Betty Collings.
