where:
• H = Validator honesty
• E = Economic participation
• V = Governance votes
• P = Penalties for dishonest actions

This isn’t a set-and-forget algorithm. The Synergy Score adapts in real time, rewarding real contributions not just ‘showing up.’

(Consensus isn’t just a popularity contest or engagement metric each term here serves a precise role in network security and decentralization. There’s a reason we don’t call it “Proof of Popularity.”)

Why this matters

By valuing multi-dimensional contribution over pure capital, PoSyg discourages centralization and makes attacks more costly.
It also ensures that network governance reflects active participation not just passive staking.

That’s the core difference with PoSyg. If you want the social layer to succeed, don’t oversimplify the protocol layer.

Layer 0: The Foundation Layer

Layer 0 refers to the underlying infrastructure that powers multiple Layer 1 blockchains. It's not a blockchain itself, but a protocol that enables the creation, communication, and interoperability of different Layer 1 chains.

Key Features:

Provides the networking, consensus, and data layers upon which Layer 1s are built.

Enables cross-chain interoperability (e.g., Cosmos IBC, Polkadot’s relay chain).

Allows developers to launch custom Layer 1s more easily.

Examples: Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche (Subnet architecture), Synternet (Data infrastructure Layer 0)

Layer 1: The Base Blockchain

Layer 1 is the main blockchain network, like Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana. It handles the core blockchain functionalities consensus, security, and execution of transactions.

Key Features:

Processes and finalizes transactions.

Native tokens (e.g., ETH for Ethereum).

Often limited by scalability issues (low TPS, high gas fees).

Examples: Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain

Layer 2: The Scaling Layer

Layer 2 is built on top of Layer 1 to improve scalability and efficiency. It offloads transactions from Layer 1, processes them, and then settles back to Layer 1.

Key Features:

Reduces congestion and gas fees on Layer 1.

Inherits Layer 1’s security via final settlement.

Commonly used for rollups, sidechains, and channels.

Examples: Arbitrum, Optimism (rollups on Ethereum), Polygon PoS (sidechain)

Quick Analogy:

Layer 0: The roads and infrastructure connecting cities (chains).

Layer 1: Each city with its own laws and systems.

Layer 2: Express trains or highways that make traveling within a city (or to another) faster.
