@midwestern_ope As a sophomore at UW Madison, I drove in a snowstorm to pick up a keg for a house party. Car got stuck in the alley near the liquor store loading dock. Multiple students came out of the homes lining the alley to get the car unstuck & keg loaded. Paid them back with party invite
@MarkTauscher65 I’m a Wisconsinite that lives in Minnesota now. After witnessing the misery here, I feel pretty damn blessed. I’ve been alive for multiple Super Bowl wins, an NBA championship, several Rose Bowls, and division championships. It could be so much worse.
@Nubbers_Natch @ettingermentum@KareBearScare But the minimum criteria would have to be something that can be measured, so likely just gpa and test scores which puts kids that don’t test well at a disadvantage. There needs to be a human element to factor in personal essays, extracurriculars, hardships, etc
@ruthblxney now I shell out for seats or stand further back where I have more space. If they were already starting to exhibit panic attack warning signs before the show started, it's their responsibility to get out of there. know your triggers, don't expect to be catered to in public
@ruthblxney I've had a panic attack while near the front of a large concert before. It was scary and I managed to get my breathing under control and move out of the crush without needing medical assistance. However, I also used that experience to learn that barricade is not the place for me
@gbrl_dick@202accepted Traveling for 3 weeks with my friends or family would make me want to murder them. Solo trips allow me to see what I want, at my pace, without inconveniencing anyone else. Plus there’s something really rewarding about the peace (and reading time) it allows.
