Not too long ago he was #iufb's highest-rated recruit in program history.
At 25, Sampson James found himself on the streets of Austin, homeless.
A recent IU grad saw the backpack and offered to help.

🥹Enormously proud that MY DAD was Asst. Medical Doctor at @ims right next to Dr. Olvey! My Dad & Olvey worked side by side from the IU flyer moment in the 60’s to my Dad’s untimely death in 1977. Every time I hear about @indycar innovations, it makes me smile, knowing my Pops was on the precipice of these changes when changes were so desperately needed. And honestly, if my Dad didn’t accept that flyer at IU, I wouldn’t be here right now, covering the sport that I so love, too! Thanks for this article, @DanaBenbow 💔❤️🏎️🏁
His wife and three sons were playing his favorite album The Beatles' Abbey Road, the final song Golden Slumbers.
"They were all singing it out loud, And Bob literally took his last breath when the song (was ending). It’s like something out of a movie." https://t.co/U4FD39A3DO
After Butler lost to UConn tonight, coach Dan Hurley made clear his thoughts on NIL using Butler coach Thad Matta as example No. 1.
"This new era, I'm not sure Thad's got the resources to be where a coach of his caliber should be." https://t.co/kNwCM9e4jP via @indystar
“Life’s too short to put up with that bullshit.”

New Castle Fieldhouse celebrated its 1,000th game on Friday night and Roy Garvin - who scored the first points there 66 years ago - was there. Great read from @DanaBenbow https://t.co/hMCybCVhNg
