Just ideas please. I do subtraction of mixed numbers by taking away the whole numbers separately. I was told it is not a best practice. I was marveled when I was told this as I sometimes find students struggle when they change the mixed number to improper fraction before taking

@Arithmaticks @mrbartonmaths Teaching a mixed ability year 9 group with a lot of challenging kids and a few more able students. I really struggled to challenge the top end students. Still haven't got an idea of what to do if I get a similar class again 🙃🙄😕😒
