The Navy does not reward promote based on competence in your field. Rewarding the type of personality that realizes the path to promotion lies in fundraising for the navy ball is the problem.

@DavidLarter When I was at Ft. Meade I’d go down to the package store in Bethesda because they had the most fantastic selection of scotch. This was like 2015ish. You could get Laphroaig 10 for $20-25. It was insane. Maybe they subsidize it to keep doctors in the military.
