Another two relatively recent papers are available in JOBE on the impact properties of rubberised one-part alkali-activated concrete
(https://t.co/tTViUsYoH5) and in J Mat Civ Eng on the creep response of the same materials (https://t.co/qGoZ5q06Qt)
A couple of detailed #openaccess papers on the compressive behaviour of steel tube and FRP-confined alkali-activated concrete with/out rubber particles were published recently in JCSR (https://t.co/ywcofgP7v1)
& CBM (https://t.co/EQ220Km5Fa) @MZeadani
Extensive tests on both steel tube & FRP confined stub columns of various aspect ratios, section types, material properties, and confinement properties, plus extensive nonlinear numerical validation & parametric studies, all leading to constitutive models or design expressions
Join us for our AGM and a technical talk on assessment, maintenance and repair of chimneys tailored for small practices. Tue 28 Nov 6pm online. Details below.
Two excellent days in Austria at the Materials Center Leoben with the #RFCS TGA4 'Steel applications and solutions for existing and new markets'. We've seen some impactful ongoing EU steel research and outstanding facilities at MCL #FutureLowEmissionIndustries#RFCS#REA_Research
I'll be presenting some of the work covering the design of hybrid steel-concrete connections, part of a recently published textbook on the 'Design of Hybrid Structures' which is available in most libraries https://t.co/Nw5YTTLfpF
At Eurosteel 2023 for the next few days, where we have 3 papers on steel hybrid/composite systems, all incorporating some points of sustainability:
*timber - cold formed steel floors
*steel-timber hybrid frames
*steel tubes infilled with rubberised alkali-activated concrete
> Cambridge to #SECED2023 conf where we are presenting the following work:
*Drift capacity of textile-reinforced mortar masonry walls
*Rate-dependent cyclic and impact properties of rubberised alkali-activated concrete
*Ultimate response characteristics of steel RBS connections
Really enjoyed the #IASS2023 with some inspiring talks and engaging masterclasses. Great presence from @UniOfSurrey showcasing experimental and educational research. Our papers on timber columns and bamboo tubes are here: https://t.co/xShLlAd5sX & https://t.co/EEpo5mjRVg
Two incredible sessions @Swinburne, where we were introduced to the captivating world of digital design&fabrication. @UniOfSurrey students learned basic principles for advanced manufacturing, digital fabrication & construction. Thanks, Daniel Prohasky & team #SurreySCEEontour
An extremely valuable learning experience with @UniOfSurrey SCEE students at the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) - impressive multi-disciplinary research, from energy storage to sustainable and resilient housing. Thanks Prof Tim McCarthy for hosting #SurreySCEEontour
Earlier this week we had the opportunity to learn about 3D printing of plastic waste, engineered bamboo & cold-formed steel research, & had a great campus tour @UOW. Thanks to Dr Ahmed & A/Prof Sheikh for hosting us, and Intl team for the tour.

A great day at the @UNSWWRL with @UniOfSurrey SCEE students! We saw a large dam & a coastal physical model in one of the wave flumes, and learnt about CoastSnap, and fish passage across man-made hydraulic structures. Thanks to Dr Flocard & colleagues for this.
#SurreySCEEontour
An excellent day @UNSW with @UniOfSurrey SCEE students where we visited the Heavy Structures, Infrastructure Materials, and Geotechnical Eng labs. Truly inspiring visit!
Thanks to Prof Valipour, Dr Kim and Dr Khoshghalb #SurreySCEEontour
