I really hope this is the future - it feels like phone and app UIs are constantly working to stop me doing whatever the one thing I grabbed my phone to do was. Being able to just say what I need to do and have it get done without being sidetracked would be nice!

What I really want from Apple AI is not another chat bot, but an AI that can operate my phone.

If ChatGPT can look at a picture of a your Home Screen and tell you where a certain app is located (it can), then it should be able to ‘click’ on that app for you.

And if ChatGPT can look at a picture of the Discord app and tell you where the Notification button is (it can), then it should be able to ‘click’ that button for you.

And if ChatGPT can look at a picture of your Discord Notification screen and tell you what the latest notifications are (it can)…

Then I should be able to ask “what are my latest Discord notifications?” and have the AI literally navigate my phone, to the app, to the notification section, and answer my question without any need for Discord to do any special integration with Siri+ (or whatever they call it).

Doing it this way would mean instant compatibility with 100% of ‘tap-driven’ apps that have pseudo-standard UI. That would be hundreds of thousands, if not millions of apps.

Even more important than operating one app like this, the real power comes from being able to do cross-app requests. Generally, apps don’t talk to each other (except maybe passing URLs in specific contexts). But if an AI can operate my phone in the way described, you can imagine it being possible to pull up a web page showing the information for a concert and say “put this in my calendar and text John to ask if he wants to go.”

Apple might be the only company that could do this in a way that users would actually trust to be private.

So happy to see Vision Pro shipping the API even if disabled for now. Credit to @meta team that took up Mozilla’s torch in last ~4 years. They pushed the standard forward and Meta Browser ships the best implementation.

@Jamiehanratty Apparently you can build up how long you can focus for. If I get really stuck into something, hours can go by without taking a break! But pomodoros help me chip away at the stuff I keep putting off! Usually after 25 minutes I'm invested enough to keep going!

I chose the wrong day to change phones apparently! The Three network is down and it seems a LOT of apps still insist on SMS phone number verification for setup 😬🤦🏻‍♂️
