The Uganda AIDS Marathon 2026 National Stakeholders' meeting, organized by Uganda AIDS Commission in collaboration with Village Journeys Africa, happening this morning at Protea Hotel - Kololo, in a Panel Discussion guided by Maery Mungati, the CEO of Village Journeys Africa and addressed by Dr. Nelson Musoba, the Director General - UAC, among other panelists.
The meeting is aimed at engaging Stakeholders on the National perspective & strategic direction for the Marathon, strengthening Private Sector engagement, sharing Marathon concept & roll out, Resource Mobilization appeal & advocating for policy & leadership shift towards ending AIDS by 2030, among other discussions.

Joined the Ministry of Health and Partners today to launch the new HIV prevention drug, Lenacapavir, which in research settings proved 100% effective and convenient for users as it is administered twice per year. I am optimistic that we may be on our way to make history!

Uganda AIDS Commission team, led by the member of the Board, Deborah Kinobe visited Kinoni Health Centre IV in Rwampara DLG to obtain facts on the ground in the implementation of HIV response.
They noted the inadequate IEC materials, stigma, poor adherence, loss to follow-up, inadequate training on ART mgn't & human resource, among the existing gaps at the centre.

On Wednesday 11th March 2026, MoH in close collaboration with UAC launched the Integrated Service delivery implementation plan for ending new HIV infections among the Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
This plan operationalises Uganda’s vision for integrated, government-led service delivery by strengthening linkages across health, education, social protection, justice, and community systems. It moves away from fragmented, parallel interventions towards a harmonised approach embedded within existing national and subnational structures for sustainability.

The initial consignment of 19,200 doses of Lanacapavir from @GlobalFund has arrived in Uganda. The drug is administered every six months to prevent HIV among persons with substantial risk of acquiring HIV. They will be distributed to high burden and high incidence districts effective March 2026.

Bishop of Ankole Diocese officially handed over the HIV/AIDS torch, symbolizing that the candle continues to burn toward Uganda’s vision of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
He also blessed the bikers who have been cycling with the torch across the country, encouraging them as they proceed to Kizinda, Bushenyi District, for the World AIDS Day commemoration on December 1st, 2025.

The Uganda @AIDSCommission has recognized the role played by HM The Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and the Kingdom of Buganda in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
New infections have dropped; the number of those testing their statuses has risen; and those taking ARTS (drugs for the treating virus) has risen.
The encouraging statistics have been provided in Bulange at the occasion of signing a memorandum of understanding between the Kingdom and UAC aimed at banishing HIV/AIDS out of Uganda by 2030.

Participated in the Kabaka Birthday Run (KBR) partners' accountability meeting where the phenomenal impact of focusing the theme of the run on fighting HIV/AIDS was shared. The Kabaka committed to contunuing with HIV/AIDS as the theme of the Kabaka run until 2030.
Yesterday, UHRC staff underwent a training aimed at creating awareness of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB). The session on HIV prevention, control, strategies, and compliance was facilitated by Dr. @danbyamud, Head of the Directorate of HIV Prevention at the @aidscommission. The online session on TB and its correlation with HIV/AIDS was facilitated by Mr. Korobe Fontiano, Health Educator and Regional TB & Leprosy Focal Point Person-Karamoja Region.
It was a great honor meeting and sharing cake with the UNAIDS Director General alongside other distinguished men and women who lead the global and national HIV response as we commemorated 20 years of exceptional work by ICWEA.
