Dear Dance Mom Community,
This is what four years after high school looks like & it’s all going out with the trash tonight with my dancer’s blessing. Over her 11 years in competitive dance, we saved exactly three “trophies”…
Wins & Placing are great!…. Achieving excellence is too!…. But far more important is that your dancer is happy, healthy, & LOVES doing it because THEY want to…. If they have those three things, everything else falls into place.
No greater #prouddad moment than to hear L’il D’s coach talk about how hard she works in & outside of practice... Same as her big sister with her dance teachers... #proudparent
Shoutout to @NBCSongland & @RyanTedder for validating DCDaughter’s career path... Nothing easy about moving to LA to start your dance career & then have a world pandemic shut literally everything down. All you can do is stand your ground... #NoPlanB
Watching a performance of The Nutcracker tonight... Not to see DCDaughter perform... But instead to see her littles perform... Big takeaway so far... I’d really like my own cape...
So honestly, the biggest difference between being a DanceCompDad & being a Softball Dad is that there’s SIGNIFICANTLY more available counter space in my hotel bathroom... #notevenkidding#L’ilD
@DanceTeacherTh1 I also still have the email where I asked her if she could help DCDaughter achieve her dream of dancing professionally... She said she could... And she did!...
We’d met & worked with the owner for 3-4 years at that point (From a distance) & had huge trust in her... Turning down the Major Studio to go with her... SINGLE BEST DECISION we made for DCDaughter in the course of her dance career...
@DanceTeacherTh1 The studio owner had done solos for DCDaughter for about 3 years at this point & there was just something magical about the two of them working together...
@DanceTeacherTh1 So a couple of things with the major studio... In looking closely at dancers on their elite team... So many of them completed their senior seasons & gave up dance thereafter... Almost like, after you’ve worked with Travis Wall several times, what’s left to do?
That’s it folks... If they truly love it... And they truly work their butt off, undeterred by whatever life throws at them... They will make it at some level of dance that will make you proud!... Forget the competition results... This is all you need to know...
