@Finnattentive But also ADHD traits like RSD, perfectionism, years of reflection and self-taught perception mean that I can be the perfect host. I was a popular bartender for years. I can read most social cues. I can listen for hours (discrete fidget at hand required though!). So YMMV
@Finnattentive Can be, unintentionally. Lots of ADHD traits like interrupting are rude or unempathetic.
That doesn't mean the person with ADHD is rude or lacks empathy.
Although of course, like any large group of people, some individuals will be rude and unempathetic, ADHD or not.
I hate the word "accommodations". It implies that NT peeps have to suffer so ND peeps can fit in. But that's not always the case. How often do "accommodations" help EVERYBODY?
It might feel hard at first, but that's simply because it's a change
For many people, seeing images of their toxic brains is one of the greatest motivators for treatment. People are even more motivated to change their behaviors once they realize how important the brain is to their health, wealth, & happiness
So this year I will play video games or mess with photos or dance around the house or watch cat videos or read or just sit and stare at the sky every single day. Rest. Recharge
This year's theme for me is RECHARGE. REST.
It is non-negotiable. I need recharge time in my routine every day. I must guard that time jealously.
I'm not a better person when I'm busy. I'm miserable, I'm too drained to connect with people, too tired to be creative
The brain integrates new knowledge and experiences in periods of rest. In rest is where creativity bubbles away and problems are solved. Balanced with those periods of focus, it's where happiness lies
Today I received a casual text from a friend, and I both read AND replied straight away. No anxiety, no seeing the notification but not opening the text for hours (days) because π. A simple, light, fun unplanned social interaction.
Can't remember the last time that happened
Your brain is so busy managing your life during the daylight hours that its cleaning system is pretty much turned off. That's why getting good, quality sleep is so important to your brain's health
