Vadim Naumov, 1994 world champion and a coach, on Nathan’s quads from us nationals 2021
“Chen's quads are fit in the program so naturally that they are taken for granted. He jumps clearly from toe-pic, the blade does not fall on the ice during take-off”

@shoshpd @sasssurlaglace @snap_pose_ They were fine in 2018, at least during SOI. Fans went to M&G and brought up Celtics and NBA, Nathan replied something with Alex. And Maia filmed Nate several times in their vlog about SOI and the Japanese Heroes and Future show 2018
#NathanChen on #ShomaUno retirement (Part 2): "It's been an honor to compete against him. He's definitely pushed me much further than I would've been able to push myself. I was really lucky to be in this generation of incredible athletes" [including #YuzuruHanyu, Patrick Chan]
#NathanChen on #ShomaUno retirement (Part 1): "I'm so proud of all the things he's accomplished. I know he knows what's best for him and excited to see where he takes himself -- whether it's inside the sport or outside the sport." #figureskating#iceskating

@sasssurlaglace @snap_pose_ 3A advise in his 2022 autobiography. JLB also likes Maia's post sometimes as recent as 2023. I do think the Shibs might have issues with some TeamUSA skaters, esp ice dancers. The 2nd picture was from 2019 SOI in April. Nathan should hardly have any contact w them since he was
look at this picture I found in my album, DOI 2017??
Young Nathan, Shoma, Marin, Wakaba, Kaori, Mai, Chris, Cathy, Kana, Maria, Kazuki, Keiji, and baby Shun???
The amazing longevity of Kaori, Wakaba and Mai's skating career🩷🩷

@OlympicChenpion correction: make sure Nathan is UNFORGOTTEN!! Nathan forever lives in haters' minds rent free!! They should appreciate his generosity and kindness for offering some sanctuary for their mental crisis
by skating to more diversified music, and it is exactly what he has been doing, experimenting with different genres of music. He never looks for jump focused audiences, and as a matter of fact, he is the ONE who devote significant chunk of efforts to music and dancing
I genuinely have one question for fanyus who are obsessed w Nathan:
When can you stop your obsession and stop twisting his words? For the record, Nathan never said anything to change FS and its audiences. The closest things Nathan said is about to bring more interest to FS in US
I genuinely have one question to NC, IM, and everyone who wants to change FS and its audience so badly:
There are so many sports out there, actually jump-focussed sports, with exactly the target audience you're looking for. Why did you choose figure skating?
@potatochip_888@olyphil@susan_field Mr. Hersh probably didn't really read what Kurt wrote about "bring nuance of music to life and simply entertaining the audiences on top of the mountain of technical difficulty"
There are many skaters skating to music from Glass. Nathan is the only one who gets the attention of the legend, and the only being included in the tributes last year to the legend
@olyphil@susan_field who can dance. He was also struck by the shapes Nathan made in spins since 2016 GPF gala, he esp liked Nathan's spins at CoR when he was 18. Nathan and Ilia were definitely very different component wise. Ilia otoh, maybe the greatest jumper in history w lots of records to break
@olyphil@susan_field Per Kurt Browning after 2019 GPF, Nathan should go down history for his versatility altho he is an incredible jumper. Kurt reiterated that opinion several times afterwards. Clearly Kurt didn't draw that conclusion from one season. Kurt always praised Nathan is a dancer or someone
Gratitude and for himself
“I’m forever thankful and indebted to the people that taught me everything I know, and I’ll always be a mentor to those who need the same advice that I did. With that being said, I love the sport, I love training, I love competing, and this is for me.”
Great article from 2020 from during pandemic in which Nathan talked about self expression, strength in stumbling, mentally preparing for leaving skating, taking s step back, don’t get too comfortable etc.
