Barbara Barrie, the Oscar-, Emmy-, and Tony-nominated actress who starred in the original production of “Company” and in films including “Breaking Away" has died at 95.

Barrie’s death was medically assisted following a terminal cancer diagnosis.

“Stand Back” was written by Stevie Nicks on the day of her wedding to Kim Anderson. While driving after the ceremony, she heard Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” on the radio, pulled over and began writing the song that night. She later called Prince to tell him the story, he came to the studio the same night, played synthesizer on the track (uncredited), and left. They agreed to split the publishing 50/50.

Released in May 1983 as the lead single from Nicks’ second solo album The Wild Heart, it reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The marriage lasted only three months, but the song became one of Nicks’ biggest solo hits and remains a staple of her live shows.

Susan Saint James, the Emmy-winning actress who starred opposite Rock Hudson in “McMillan & Wife” and Jane Curtin in the CBS sitcom “Kate & Allie,” died Monday at 80 years old after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Saint James’ family described her as someone “generous with her time and energy, which she valued more than money, and instinctively drawn to whoever needed lifting up. She taught her children to pause, be kind and look out for other people. She never met a stranger. Every person she met became the most important person in the room at that moment, from a fellow board member to the clerk at the shoe store, who usually walked away knowing her entire life story.” (via People)

"Don't Stop The Dance" was the second single from the album Boys and Girls (1985), Bryan Ferry's first solo album after the official demise of Roxy Music. He wrote the music inspired by the mood of the dance floors of the 80s, but gave its characteristic touch: an elegant, sophisticated and almost cinematic groove, with striking percussion and luxurious arrangements.

The single became one of the biggest solo hits of his career, entering the Top 10 in several countries.
