Australian journalist Cheng Lei has made her first public statement since being jailed in an undisclosed Chinese prison for doing her job. Lei made an impassioned cry for freedom after three years behind bars.
Glenhuntly, trains running.
The platform runs too far north under Glenhuntly road, the stairs should be about a third down the platform or closer to the middle, not at the very end, anyway...
Nature-based bioswales 🌿🌧️ are a great way to filter pollutants from urban pavements. London would benefit greatly from more green initiatives and sustainable stormwater management solutions like this #bioswales#raingarden#SuDS#stormwatermanagement#greeninfrastructure
Hey, remember when car and oil companies successfully lobbied governments to create car dependent cities and suburbs, and once we became almost completely car dependent, WE became the loudest, angriest champions of unhindered road space for cars only, cheap gas, and free parking?
It's wild how poorly we plan transport here when extremely productive routes don't get upgrades to run more frequently, or even at all in the case of the 800 bus on Sundays
Post-footy 8.45pm @vline_ballarat - only 3 carriages and it’s jam-packed. People standing in the aisles the whole way along the train, no seat is vacant.
It’s about time we electrify to Melton, and add extra carriages to Ballarat on the weekend.

The Route 800 Bus is one of many across the east which has poor off-peak and weekend services. It runs along a major transport route servicing shopping centres, universities and M-City
We’re calling on @ptv_official to #fix800bus with #MoreServicesPlease
Public housing in Vienna. The best in the world. In Australia, rent typically takes up at least 30 per cent of pre-tax income. Residents in Vienna public housing pay typically just 5-10 per cent. The public housing is beautiful and 80 per cent of Vienna residents qualify.
Once you have a contract, it never expires, even if you get richer. Public housing rents only increase when yearly inflation exceeds 5 percent.
If we had a system like this in Australia, we would all be so much richer and better off.
Nothing like new bike day! And the @UnitedEnergyAU team building four bikes from scratch for deserving school kids makes this one even more special. We can't wait to see them in action at Around the Bay later this year 😍

Throwback Thursday!
These Ross McClelland pics show a Comeng set at Cranbourne on the first day of electric services in 1995.
To blend in with local culture The Met wisely used a set with graffiti already present.
