🇷🇴 ROMANIA AT THE CROSSROADS — THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THE ROMANIAN PEOPLE

To my friends in Romania: this message is for you.

Only days ago I sat down with George Simion in Dubrovnik.

Since then, events have moved rapidly.

We have witnessed disturbing scenes on the streets of Bucharest.

We have seen farmers and shepherds confronting the authorities.

And now Romania faces a political battle over who can form the next government — with AUR making clear that it is ready to govern and will not support a government from which it is excluded.

Meanwhile, the possibility of early parliamentary elections has entered the political conversation if the deadlock cannot ultimately be resolved.

But amid all the political manoeuvring, there is something much bigger at stake.

Romania's future.

And my message is simple:

The Romanian people deserve to be heard.

Your future should be determined peacefully, democratically and through the ballot box.

Not through violence.

Not through political manoeuvring behind closed doors.

And not by people outside Romania deciding what is best for your country.

ROMANIA'S FUTURE BELONGS TO THE ROMANIAN PEOPLE.

Over recent days, Romanians have sent me messages, footage and translations of my reporting.

Many have asked me to keep watching.

I am watching.

And people far beyond Romania are watching too.

Stay peaceful.

Stay engaged.

Demand transparency.

And never underestimate the importance of making your voice heard through the democratic process.

To the Romanian people: you are being heard. You are being watched. And you are not alone.
