@Sic_em__Dawgs@pstudeba8@On3 I agree. We need to go back to 1 time transfer or 2 year contracts, but allowing them to leave if HC, coordinator or position coach leave.
@pstudeba8@Sic_em__Dawgs@On3 As a Georgia fan I completely disagree. Most of the top recruits do not want to sit for 2+ years waiting on their opportunity. I know NIL plays a part in that, but I do not think Jared Curtis would have taken the gamble on Vandy if he had to be locked in there for 4 years.
@pstudeba8@Sic_em__Dawgs@On3 I also think the transfer portal has played a huge role. I think players are much more likely to leave the southeast knowing that they can always transfer if they don't like it.
I think part of the reason the SEC dominated for years is most of the talent is in their backyard.
@pstudeba8@Sic_em__Dawgs@On3 I don't disagree with some of your points. I disagree with SEC teams paying more. Maybe they did, but I have a hard time thinking Bama was offering way more for players than Ohio State was. I do think the SEC likely had more schools participating in paying players.
@KevinVT90@rationalyankee@cockamaymee Something similar could have gone there without the Braves. There are mixed use developments all over Atlanta that do very well without having a stadium tied to it.
@rationalyankee@cockamaymee The Battery is busy year round. There is a concert venue, office buildings, restaurants, etc. The players do not have a right to any of that money.
@JacobiWanKenobi@steakshapiro UGA won the SEC and made it out of regionals. If you want to claim GT is better because they won one midweek games thats fine. I will claim UGA is better because they won the SEC and Tech lost to the 11th SEC team twice.
@CoreyGass1@McCannSportsLaw I just don't think they should set the precedent that its not a big deal. I think gambling on your teams games, whether you play or not should be a 1 year suspension. Throwing games should be a lifetime ban.
@CoreyGass1@McCannSportsLaw Yeah I agree, players with violent crimes especially domestic violence should have harsher penalties. But you have to understand why gambling on your own team's games is such a big deal.
@CoreyGass1@McCannSportsLaw Yeah because most players are not dumb enough to gamble because they know it is the one cardinal sin of sports. Also Texas Tech fans keep saying he is an addict like that is supposed to absolve him of his crimes.
