Behind every call for help is a calm voice, a steady hand, and a professional who never hesitates.
This National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we recognize the unseen first responders who answer the call, gather the facts, and guide both the public and officers through moments that matter most.
Thankfully, you'll never hear our dispatchers say what's in this video... but it offers a lighthearted glimpse at the humor that helps them navigate a very serious job.
Thank you for your dedication, your composure, and your commitment to keeping our community safe. We hear you, we appreciate you, and we couldn't do this job without you. #sjpd #NPSTW
Did you know having 3 copies of chromosome 21 is unique to people with Down syndrome? That is why every year on March 21st, SJPD stands with our community to support World Down Syndrome Day. On this day of recognition, we wear colorful mismatched socks (representing the likeness of these chromosomes) to advocate for the rights and inclusion of those with Down syndrome. 💛🧦💙

Gabby and I know, when others try to silence you, you must keep speaking out — and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
