I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.
Rosamund Pike, star and producer of The Wheel of Time, in her first public comments after Amazon cancelled the series in May 2025 following its third season, which had received the best reviews of the show's run:
Pike told reporters the cancellation left her with "anguish and rage," said the show "deserved another chance," and called on another streamer to rescue it.
Amazon cancelled The Wheel of Time. Then it greenlit Stargate. Then it cancelled Stargate before filming. Is Jeff Bezos the most destructive force in science fiction television?
@CeraGibson@djcows There is a version of AI being used to diagnose and treat cancer. It's just not Generative AI. Very different AI models do that stuff. The pro-ai crowd doesn't understand what this stuff is or how it works just that they like it.
“Expecting an algorithmic description to instantiate the quality it maps is like expecting the mathematical formula of gravity to physically exert weight.”
