@Nigelrefowens Badgers have some localised affects and are obviously not controlled by the presence of apex predators, but they aren’t to blame for the wide-scale destruction of nature in this country. Neither are the farmers. But the farming system can be blamed. Stop focusing on one animal
1/5 Apparently Brian May and badgers have caused “more harm to wildlife in this country than anyone” - not the large-scale use of insecticides, pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides decimating the diversity AND abundance of wildlife by HALF since the industrial revolution,
5/5 Why can’t we pool our resources into funding much better testing on cows, much better animal welfare practices, and much better farm infrastructure, rather than allowing farmers to put the blame on wildlife - or what remains of it.
4/5 not the unclean shared drinking troughs, not the terrible practices of bringing in bulls from external herds who haven’t been tested properly. Oh and not the test itself which has been shown only to have a 50% success rate at finding an infected cow! How can we rely on that?!
I don’t believe any of these figures but just imagine the money we could spend restoring nature in this country if only a portion of the budgets was spent correctly 🥲
This is a big reason why your taxes are going up this winter:
£1 billion on UK & UK/France costs for policing the small boats crisis
£6 billion on social housing subsidies for foreign-born
£7 billion to resettle 24,000 Afghans in the UK
£12 billion a year on Universal Credit for non-UK nationals
£15 billion on accommodation for refugees and asylum-seekers
£200-234 billion giving migrants Indefinite Leave to Remain
Oh, and £140 million translating English into other languages
We. Must. End. Mass. Immigration.
@Nigelrefowens Sorry Nigel, but we haven’t had apex predators “controlling” badger populations for well over a thousand years (last wolves roamed Wales probably 1200). How have they lived side by side since then? Why did it all start after the industrialisation of agriculture… oh…
Wake up @MailOnline@Telegraph protestors are blocking roads , people are missing hospital appointments , funerals , emergency services can’t get through ! Here’s some epithets for you ‘Farmo-mob’ , ‘Farmo-loons’ , ‘Farmo-zealots’ . C’mon call for them all to be locked up forever ! You wouldn’t want to accused of hypocrisy !
Nature lovers, we need your help 📣
We need to raise funds to ensure our rewilding site, @healsomerset, is kept for nature, forever.
Help us do that with a Heal 3x3 sponsorship. It’s like having your very own patch of rewilding land 👇

Yet another disastrous piece of news. We will not stand for this. We are in a climate emergency and we deserve better.

This is an attack on nature.
Our government seems to be forgetting that we are in a climate and biodiversity EMERGENCY. Do better.
