@RutgersAltRoute Challenges with having students stuck in a particular mindset is finding what will bring them out of it. Usually it is motivation and engagement in a lesson, which can typically be flipped by pulling from strengths and interests.
@RutgersAltRoute In my kindergarten class, we begin the day with discussing how we are feeling, and a recap of our class expectations. That sets the tone for what is expected of them and myself as the day goes on.
@RutgersAltRoute Framing is important for students to be engaged in a lesson. Getting to know your students is a crucial step to them having a growth mindset instead of a fixed on. Pulling from their strengths is a way for them to feel confident and excited to learn new things.
@RutgersAltRoute I believe assessments are crucial because it is a tool to help you as a teacher tailor your lessons to where your students are when teaching content. If you assess and 90% of students fail, that shouldn’t be the end. It should be an indicator that adjustments are needed.
@RutgersAltRoute Feedback is important to the growth of our students. Tailoring feedback to how those individuals learn is crucial to their understanding. Having them guide where they need additional support is helpful as well.
@RutgersAltRoute My school incorporates their ideologies into everyday learning and teaching. We instill our schools pledge in our students so that we are able to teach and learn in a way that motivates us to strive for success and radiate positivity. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute I consistently check in with my students to see how they are feeling and what they need or don’t need to aid in their success. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute I teach kindergarten so there are many ways to incorporate manipulatives and ways to deliver instruction and ways to assess in the classroom that could benefit everyone regardless of a learning disability or not. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute I use individual schedules for my students with ADHD and opportunities to work with some form of fidget. I also give those student preferential seating to make sure they are able to best give their attention to the task at hand. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute Some challenges I have encountered were identifying strengths and weaknesses in students and then being able to use those to tailor my teaching. Each student is very different so it could make planning difficult. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute The challenge surrounding HIB is being able to create an atmosphere where students feel safe around their peers and being able to run a classroom at the same time. #TeacherEd#SafeSchools
@RutgersAltRoute I collaborate with my grade level partners and take workshops offered by the district to better my knowledge of technology and how to integrate it into my classroom. #TeacherEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute In my kindergarten room, some of the barriers I have run into are students not being able to use their devices independently. Logging in and navigating sites take much longer than anticipated at times. #TeacherEd#EdTech
