It is very important for us to be in Italy today and to unite with the whole world. We are grateful for the Vatican's assistance to Ukraine in facilitating the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported and displaced by Russia and the release of prisoners. This was one of the key topics discussed during our meeting with Cardinal Matteo Zuppi.

The most important thing for our state is to bring all our people back, to bring more lives home, to their loved ones, to their families. There are many children who are being held against their will in Russia. We want to bring them home, and this is why we are once again turning to the Vatican for such help.

Last night, the Russian army carried out another massive attack on our energy infrastructure. Various facilities were targeted in several regions – Odesa, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Ternopil. In total, the Russians used nearly 70 missiles, both cruise and ballistic, as well as almost 200 attack drones. All of this was directed against infrastructure that ensures normal life. Currently, repair and restoration work is ongoing wherever needed. Unfortunately, ordinary residential buildings have also been damaged. In Kharkiv, a Russian missile hit close to an apartment building. People were injured. They are receiving the necessary assistance.

Today, F-16 fighter jets and Mirage aircraft provided by France were used to protect Ukrainian skies. In particular, the Mirages successfully intercepted Russian cruise missiles. Thank you! I also want to recognize the performance of our anti-aircraft missile forces, army aviation, all our electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.

The first steps toward real peace must include forcing the sole source of this war, Russia, to stop such attacks against life. And this is something that can be effectively monitored. Silence in the skies – banning the use of missiles, long-range drones, and aerial bombs. And silence at sea – a real guarantee of normal navigation. Ukraine is ready to pursue the path to peace, and it is Ukraine that strives for peace from the very first second of this war. The task is to force Russia to stop the war.

Хочу ще раз наголосити, що Україна прагне до миру.

Ніхто з нас не хоче нескінченної війни. Україна готова якнайшвидше сісти за стіл переговорів, щоб наблизити надійний мир. Ніхто не хоче миру більше, ніж українці. Ми з моєю командою готові працювати під сильним лідерством Президента Трампа, щоб досягти тривалого миру.

Ми готові працювати швидко, щоб закінчити війну, і першими етапами можуть стати звільнення полонених, негайне перемир’я в небі: заборона ракет, далекобійних дронів, бомбардувань енергетичної та іншої цивільної інфраструктури – і негайне перемир’я на морі, якщо Росія зробить те ж саме. Потім ми хочемо дуже швидко пройти всі наступні етапи й разом із США домовитися про сильну остаточну угоду.

Ми дійсно цінуємо те, як багато Америка зробила, щоб допомогти Україні зберегти суверенітет і незалежність. І ми пам’ятаємо той переламний момент, коли Президент Трамп надав Україні «джавеліни». Ми вдячні за це.

Наша зустріч у Вашингтоні, у Білому домі, в п’ятницю пройшла не так, як передбачалося. Прикро, що так сталося. Настав час зробити все правильно. Ми хотіли б, щоб надалі співпраця та спілкування були конструктивними.

Що стосується угоди про мінерали та безпеку, то Україна готова підписати її в будь-який час і в будь-якому зручному форматі. Ми розглядаємо цю угоду як крок до зміцнення безпеки та надійних безпекових гарантій, і щиро сподіваюся, що вона працюватиме ефективно.

I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.

None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.

We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.

We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.

Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.

Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.
