Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has widened his attack on Benin royalty, accusing the Olu of Warri and tying the charge to his earlier claim that the Benin Kingdom is a “419” empire.

In videos circulating, Dokubo alleged that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, and Osahon whom he identified as the son of the late Captain Hosa Okunbo collect about ₦2.7 trillion a year from pipeline surveillance contracts. He said critics single out Tompolo because the others are “Bini” and Itsekiri, and he insisted Captain Osa was “from Benin” and “not from an oil-producing community.” He has produced no contract or payment record.

The line now being attached to the outburst is that Benin’s history is clear, that the kingdom is a 419 empire, 419 kingdom and 419 entity, and that this applies to everybody in Benin apart from the Oba and his family. Dokubo has also captioned a recent video: “Olu of Warri and Oba of Benin are far far beneath me. I am an Amachree.”

Asari Dokubo also brushed aside comparison with Nnamdi Kanu, saying he does not want to discuss him because senior Igbo figures have already spoken to him.

Dokubo said Kanu was taken to court twice and has faced trial only twice, while he himself has faced trial countless times. “Do not compare Nnamdi Kanu with me,” he said. “I cannot condescend to the level of Nnamdi Kanu.” He added that big Igbo people, including Kanu relations have spoken to him, and that he respects them.
